Fourth Quest Complete

The Adventurer's Guild building.

The sky outside was already dark and the street lamps were lit when Vivian stepped inside the building.

She swept her gaze around.

So they're really open at night…

However…

There's not that many personnel…

Compared during the day time, there were only 3 personnel. One was seated behind the Quest Processing counter, another one at the Quest Rewards counter, and the last one was walking around carrying papers.

And they were all women.

As for the non-personnel, there were only 2 Adventurers, a man and a woman around the same age as Vivian, and they wore Gold Rank I pendants around their necks.

The woman was waiting at the side and was carrying a bow and arrow along with a dagger on her thigh. Meanwhile, the man talking with the receptionist behind the Quest Processing counter had a large sword on his back, a dagger on his thigh and a small club hanging around his waist.

Is it really this safe…?

I mean, what if someone attacks the guild…?

Vivian was struck with a pang of thirst and hunger along with exhaustion so she tossed the idea at the back of her head and made her way to the Quest Rewards counter.

Well, of course, it's a different person…

As far as what Vivian has observed, there should have been 2 receptionists at the Quest Rewards counter and they were always the same people. But this time around, she doesn't remember seeing this receptionist.

"Good evening, how may I help you?" the receptionist asked when Vivian finally reached the counter.

"Good evening, too. I've completed my quest and I'm here to deliver the items or the quest items."

"May I ask what's your name or the name of your group that was registered on the quest and the quest's name?"

"Vivian, I work alone and the quest was to collect 15 pieces of Bukaroo tails."

"Vivian? V-I-V-I-A-N?"

"Yes."

"Last name?"

"None."

"May I ask when was this quest issued?"

"Today."

"And the quest was issued here?"

"Yes."

"Please wait for a moment and take a seat," the receptionist said and began searching on the logbook in front of her.

There were 4 chairs on the side arranged in one line.

"It's okay. I'll just wait here."

"Found it," the receptionist announced and then turned to Vivian. "The quest is a Copper Rank Quest, it is registered under the Adventurer named Vivian, you were required to gather 15 Bukaroo tails within 3 days, the reward is 20 copper coins, and the quest was issued this morning. Do you agree with the details?"

"Yes," said Vivian.

She took out a small sack under her brown cloak and handed it over to her.

When the receptionist was done checking the tails, she raised her head and looked at Vivian.

"I've checked the tails and they're in good condition. Please wait here for a moment for your reward."

"Okay."

The receptionist left and entered the door behind the counters. When she came back, she was carrying a silver-colored tray with a cheap-looking coin pouch on top of it and she placed the tray in front of Vivian.

"Here's your reward, 20 copper coins. If you want to check if the amount is correct, please do."

"No need. Thank you," Vivian said as she grabbed the pouch and then left.

***

When Vivian stepped out of the Adventurer's Guild building, a woman approached her.

"Hello, good evening, Honored Priestess."

Vivian stopped and turned to the woman.

It was the Gold Rank I female Adventurer carrying a bow and arrow along with a dagger that she noticed earlier inside the building.

Her brows knitted together.

She didn't particularly have a good first impression with Gold Rank Adventurers. On top of that, based on what she has observed in the mornings when Adventurers would gather and wait for the newly posted quests, Gold Rank Adventurers only talk with each other.

"Yes?"

"My name is Sansa and I was wondering if you would like to accompany me for dinner. Dinner's on me, of course!" the woman said and flashed a bright and cheery smile.

"No thank you," Vivian said and then began walking.

"Wait!"

Vivian stopped and turned around.

"What?"

Sansa raised her hands.

"Sorry if I offended you or something. It's just that I want to properly introduce myself before telling you my real goal. I'm Sansa, a Hunter and I'm part of the Gold Rank Adventurer group called Golden Dust formerly known as Silver Dust. And right now we're looking for a Priest to join our party. And of course, as the Priest, you'll have 20% of the quest reward by default. We also offer hazard pay."

"I see. No thank you," Vivian said and then resumed walking.

Sansa scratched her head.

"Well, at least I tried."

She placed her hands at the back of her head and started whistling as she turned around and walked to the opposite direction.

A couple of steps later, she met a group of people -- 3 people to be exact.

The man carrying a large sword on his back was there along with a man carrying 2 daggers on his thighs and an axe on his back, and a woman carrying a wand and shield and a dagger on her thigh.

"Sansa, you good already?" the woman carrying a wand asked.

"Yeah, let's go, I'm hungry. I can't wait to finally eat real food after traveling for so long!"

"Make sure to bring and cook your own food next time. I'm definitely not going to cook for you from now on," the man carrying 2 daggers grumbled.

"Who do you think does all the hunting?"

"You think I can't hunt food?"

The man carrying a large sword looked at her.

"So how did it go?"

"Hmm?"

"That thing you said earlier back in the guild."

"Flat-out rejection," she said and let out a sigh.

"What are you guys talking about?" the woman carrying a wand asked.

"Some Copper Rank Adventurer."

"A Copper Rank? Why?"

Seeing no one replying, the woman pressed further.

"Hey, what's this about?"

The man carrying a large sword turned to Sansa and gave her a this-was-your-idea-so-you-have-to-explain-it look.

Sansa let out a wry smile and scratched the side of her face with a finger.

"There was a female Priest Adventurer."

"A Priestess at the Adventurer Guild? Why? What's her business there?"

"She was an Adventurer."

"Huh?" the woman said with a confused expression.

"A Priestess who is an Adventurer?" asked the man carrying 2 daggers.

"Yeah."

"And she's a Copper Rank?"

"Copper Rank I."

"Why is she an Adventurer? And what's her cloak color?"

"I have no idea. She's a Brown Cloak."

"So she doesn't have any Class Magic yet. And you tried to invite her to our party?"

"I tried to invite her to dinner first to let her guard down before inviting her to our party, but she quickly rejected me. I then said she would receive 20% of the quest reward by default and hazard pay if she joined our party, but she still rejected me without even blinking an eye."

The man carrying 2 daggers scoffed.

"As much as I feel insulted for what you and that Priestess did so sullying our group's name, I still to say: What were you expecting?"

"Hey Sansa, aren't you hurting my feelings?" the woman carrying a wand interjected.

"You're a Herbalist. And as strong as you are, you can't resurrect people," said Sansa.

"So that's it, huh? After all we've been through you're just going to kick me out for a Priest who doesn't even have any Class Magic. I should've known," she said and made a sad face.

Sansa looked away and started whistling.

The man with a large sword let out a sigh.

"No one is going to get kicked out of the party. It's just that, now that we're Gold I Rank Adventurers, it would be nice if we had 2 healers in our party."

"Right," said Sansa. "Also, when was the last time you saw a Priest Adventurer?"

"So was she really a Copper I Rank Adventurer? And a Brown Cloak?" asked the woman carrying a wand.

"Yeah."

"But why is a Priest being an Adventurer? Don't they just stick with each other doing their Holy Missions and Holy Crusades?"

"I have no idea."

She turned to the man carrying a large sword.

"I have no idea either."

"Maybe it's because she doesn't have Light Affinity?" said the man carrying 2 daggers.

"But that would mean that she has 3 Magic Art Affinities," said Sansa. "Anyhow, it would be a waste if some other party gets her."
