They arrived back at the house. ‘Now remember what I said. Wear something black, don’t disappoint me Ariel.’
‘I won’t.’
We headed off to different bedrooms to change Jay walked in closing and locking the door. I jumped turning. ‘Jay what the fuck?’
‘Language princess.’
‘What the hell are you even doing in here?’
‘I came to talk.’ He answered tapping an empty spaced on the bed for me.
‘About what?’
‘Sit down first I don’t like to look up at people during a conversation I like to look them in the eye.’
‘Fine.’ I huffed walking over to the bed sitting down. Trying not to make eye contact with him.
‘Look at me Ariel.’ He sounded cross.
‘Now Ariel!”
Yep he was pissed.
I gradually lifted my head trying not to make eye contact, he grabbed my chin yanking it to the side so our eyes were aligned. ‘What do you want Jae? I have to get ready.’
‘If you want out of all of this I can help you.’
‘No I can’t.’
‘You can Ariel this isn’t for you.’
‘It wasn’t for the others, did you offer to help them to “get out of it” too?’
‘No.’ He admitted.
‘So why me?’
‘You’re different.’
‘How?’
‘You just are Ariel. I’m offering you a once in a lifetime get out of jail free card. It is up to you if you decide to take it or not, but I won’t offer again.
‘How are you even going to get me out of this?’
‘I have my ways all you’ve got to do is trust me.’
‘And what about school?’
‘I’ll sort it.’
‘My friends?’
‘Them too.’
‘I don’t know it’s risky.’
‘Life is a big risk Ariel, I wouldn’t offer this to just anyone. I can help you Ariel you don’t belong here you don’t belong in our world.’
‘He seems to think I do.’
‘You don’t Ariel. You're better than us, you're smarter than us. He’d shouldn't’ve dragged you into this. This life isn’t for you.’
‘It wasn’t for them either but they were dragged into it.’
‘Not all of them. I know you're scared Ariel and you have no reason not to be, but I am offering you a way out. Take your chance and get out while you can. I’ll help you I’ll make sure you and your friends are safe and away from this shit life he wants you involved in. He’s not the person you think he is Ariel and if you stick around you’ll find that out.’
‘I can't. He’ll find me.’
‘He won’t I promise you that.’
‘I can’t have this on your head when he finds out I’ve gone, and you’ve helped me.’
‘He won’t know and he’ll never find you.’
‘I’m sorry I can’t. I’ll have to decline your offer.’
‘Don’t say I never warned you. You’re just another toy to him Ariel, you deserve a whole lot better.’ He said getting up and kissing me on the forehead. ‘I’ll see you down stairs.’
I nodded. He unlocked the door stepping out, closing the door behind him. I got up changing hoping I’d made the right choice.
I walked out of the room heading down stairs he looked up and smiled. ‘Come on Ariel we have to go.’
I nodded he took my hand pulling me toward him. ‘You sure know how to pull the bad girl vibe off you look damn sexy in black.’ He growled winking.
We all headed out to the. Mini van parked outside. ‘You’re not driving are you?’
He laughed and slid open the back door. A guy in his mid twenties sat at the wheel. ‘Ariel this is my bro and wing man.’
‘Harvey.’ He said looking at me smiling. He looked like Cole but older. We got into the van and the door slid shut and Harvey pulled away. ‘So is the chick your new toy bro?’ He chucked.
I slumped back, embarrassed.
‘No. New member.’
‘You think she can handle all of this shit?’
‘She will learn to.’
He nodded. She’s hot, you mind if I take her out some time.’
‘Yes I do.’ He snapped.
‘Chill bro I’ll be good. I promise.’
‘I know you Harvey, the answer is no.’
‘I’ll. take her anyway, show her what she's missing?!’ He laughed.
I sunk further in could this night get any worse?
‘So... angel you go to school with my brother?’
I nodded .
‘She’s quiet bro, where did you find her?’
‘Mind your own fucking buisness. And fucking drive.’
‘I’m just being friendly.’
‘Well don’t.’
‘Whatever.’ He said, continuing to drive.’ He pulled up at an abandoned building, well it looked like it was. Cole handed me a black hat and gloves. ‘Put these on.’
I nodded and did as he said.
The door slid open and we all went out Cole grabbed the bag sliding the door shut. ‘This way.’ He said we all followed him. Harvey walked close to me, closer than I was comfortable with. ‘I’ll pick you up tomorrow after school he won’t know.’
I swallowed as we continued to walk across the muddy field Harvey grabbed me pulling me back up. ‘Careful angel.’
‘My name is Ariel, not angel!’
‘I know, take a chill pill.’
‘Where are we going?’
‘Over there.’ Harvey pointed to the derelict building.
‘Why? there’s nothing there.’
‘You’ll be surprised.’
We headed over to the building. ‘Jae take Ariel and Harvey with you whilst we get to work out here.’
He nodded, calling us to him. We walked cautiously over to him. ‘Now listen Ariel, we grab what we can and get the fuck out are we clear.’
I nodded.
‘Words Ariel.’
‘Yes understood.’
‘Good lets go.’
I followed him in Harvey behind us, making me nervous. Jae bust the lock and we all snuck in. I looked around how he fuck were we supsed to carry any of this out?
‘Take what you can carry. Cole and the others will be here soon.’
He pointed in all directions and we all split up, grabbing what we could.
Cole and the others appeared doing the same. ‘We best get out we have five minutes before it goes off.’
Jae nodeed and we ran.
We ran like there was no tomorrow hoping that we didn’t drop anything, then boom! The whole place went up.
Holly shit.
We fell to the ground as the whole building ignited and was engulfed in flames.
‘Holy shit Cole you should’ve set it for ten not five.’
‘We all got out didn’t we?’
‘This time.’
‘What the fuck?’ I shouted, my ears buzzing.
‘Come on let’s get back before the fire brigade and cops arrive.‘
Harvey pulled me to my feet and I smiled politely. He nodded.
We headed back to the van. Harvey slid the back door open and we all got in placing whatever we had just taken from the building down. The door slid shut. Harvey jumped into the van closing the door staring the engine uo pulling away. ‘You used a bomb?’ I finally said.
‘Yes honey I used a detonator.’
‘Why?’
‘So no one can find what’s left in there.’
‘Why didn’t you just drive the fucking van over and pile the fucking stuff in?’
‘I keep telling him that.’
‘We can’t carry it all.’
‘Get a fucking lorry then?’
‘No one can drive one.’
‘Why don’t you find someone that can?’
‘She’s clever bro I like her.’
‘You like anything that walks.’
‘No I don’t.’
‘Yes you fucking do. Everytime I bring someone new you just have to fucking flirt.’
‘This one has balls none of the others did.’
‘What did we take anyway?’
‘Drugs honey.’
‘What!’ I screamed.
‘They’re old police stash no one will notice them missing.’
‘If they are old police stash why didn’t they get rid?’
‘She’s good bro.’
‘Fine.’ He huffed. ‘I stole them off someone who owed me okay.’
‘What if they find it all missing?’
‘They won’t.’
‘What if they do?’
‘They won’t Ariel now drop it.’
‘Sure whatever.’
