After the match, we just sat by the sides, watching teams of disciples compete with each other.
The matches that we saw didn't make me feel any better because I saw 8 geniuses in each of the winning teams. They were the ace of each of their team, and they were almost as strong as Sulien, some were even stronger.
In my head, I was saying, 'Isn't this supposed to be the D-Class rank battles? Why are there so many disciples here who could one-shot each of my teammates?'
This is so weird. Like, how? How can they be so powerful? I thought that this would be a breeze!
What I didn't realize is that these "geniuses" have been training hard for this moment, thinking that the rest of their opponents will be weaker than them. But they didn't think that many disciples also DID the same thing as them; training harder than everyone else!
After 9 hours of watching numerous matches, 9 teams came out as the winners of their battles.
These teams' names are:
[Vengeance – 12 Points]
[Ultimate Emperors – 13 Points]
[Imperial Heroes – 11 Points]
[High Kings – 10 Points]
[Mage Emperors – 14 Points]
[Combat Kings – 14 Points]
[Silent Monarchs – 12 Points]
[White Tigers – 11 Points]
[Harrowing Nightmares – 7 Points]
So, uh, yeah. These teams have the best and edgiest names out there, and look at us, [The Heroes – 9 Points]. We look like retards with this name! Look at the third team, they have a better name than us! And they are practically broadcasting how superior their name is to us!
I'll forever hate my team for this!
Anyway, at the end, only 10 teams remained with the rest being injured or so.
We were called down to the stage, and we did.
All of the teams here either have this cool and cold expression, or the relaxed and laid back expression on them. Only one stood out a bit out of all of them, and that was the team Harrowing Nightmares.
They were the exact definition of the word "edgy". Long, spiky black hairs, red eyes, pale skins, long black overcoats, and cold expressions. And they had sabers by their waists, making them look edgier.
We, on the other hand, were just a bunch of children. The only teens in this team are Alice and Randy. I am 4 years old, while Scarlet is 10 years old.
With my deadpan expression, I decided to greet the teams.
I came forward, the lights turning my shadow as the lone moon shone upon us, and said, "Hello, my name is Auguste. How are you all?"
When they turned to look at me, for once, I felt pressure. 8 people exuded pressures with just their eyes, and I immediately knew who they were; the geniuses.
One of them approached me, a guy who wore a laid-back expression, as he said, "Oh, you're that child, eh? The one who used cruel methods to defeat his opponents? I really admire your cruel combat style! What kind of style did you use?"
He smiled, showing me his white pearly teeth, his hair being dirty green and he wore a green bucket hat, golden eyes and pale skin. Even though he wore a green doqi, I felt like that didn't suit his appearance. I pictured him wearing a long jacket and a scarf, with just his carefree expression on.
"Hm, thanks. It's called 'Playful Monkey'. It's based around the cruel fighting style the Monkey King used thousands of years ago. With this fighting style, I could defeat many opponents without much effort. But only with the use of mana can I perfectly use this," When I finished saying all of that, I suddenly fell into the realization that I was saying all of that without thinking.
Somehow, he was able to control my mind for a moment and make me speak against my will!
Alerted, I looked him in the eyes, and said, becoming aggressive by the second, "What did you do?"
He smirked, his golden eyes shining, and said, "That was a warning, Auguste. Many of us here have abilities that can be considered abnormal, and you have just experienced mine. But the one I used was just a simple illusionary technique that only I know, and you have no way of getting out of it once I use it on you. I'll cancel it for now, but always be vigilant when taking the rank battles…"
He turned around to go to his teammates, but not before continuing, "Disciples will do anything to sabotage strong opponents, you just have to be thankful that none of us are weak teams. Those that are weak use the most underhanded methods. Please remember that, Auguste."
Even though I was weirded out by his suddenness, I was a bit thankful for his warning. I can see other teams snickering at me, but I didn't care about that. If I want to beat them in the next rank battles, then I'll have to grow stronger.
And the simple thing to do is to dispel the clones working on my physical training!
Soon, master Yule came flying down, and when he landed in front of us, he said, "Nice to meet you, disciples. I called all of you down here so that I can explain the rules of the rank battles that we will be conducting next week. We will give you a week to prepare, and we'll call you again to the stadium once the week of rest is over."
We attentively listened to him, as he continued, "The points you gathered by eliminating other participants are not useless as some of you might think. Because these points will be added to the points that you will earn in the rank battles, and the team with the highest points at the end is the winner, as all of you know. But those points will come handy in C-Class as you can buy items, medicines, or anything in District 7's Item Pavillion."
"And once you become a C-Class disciple, your monthly resources will increase. The rules are simple in the rank battles. All of you will be left alone in my dimensional box, where all of you will be transported into one of my maps. This one will be larger and all of you have a week in there to defeat your opponents. And, at the end of all this, only one team will win and become C-Class disciples. Any questions?" He said, looking over everyone.
We stayed quiet, and he said, "Alright, all of you are to go to your respective houses and rest. Train if you want, but remember, you will need your energy for the rank battles.'
With that, we dispersed.
