"Get ready now folks! Our patriarch has chosen the first five teams that will fight inside his dimensional box!" Arsus yelled excitedly on his mic.
My master, patriarch Yule, took the mic, and said, "The first five teams are the Felines, Monkey Emperors, Biters, Iron Defense Squad, and lastly, the Heroes."
My face slowly grew serious as I saw the 4 other teams jump down to the stage while emanating intimidating auras.
The Felines were obviously cat demi-humans, as I saw their ears and tails. 3 had brown hairs and yellow-eyes, while the one excluding the most dangerous aura, the leader, has black hair and red cat-like eyes. They all wore brown doqi. This is one of the all-female teams here, which brings them a lot of attention from the crowd. They were curvier than other women here, and since they all wore a doqi, some of their skin was shown.
The Monkey Emperors were the same monkeys Scarlet defeated a month ago in the library before we formed our team, but they have a new member, someone who actually has the presence of an emperor; a monkey demi-human who didn't hide his monkey features and instead proudly showed them. He has the brightest golden fur I've ever seen, which covered his elbows, jaw, top head, and his chest. He wore a yellow doqi, along with the rest of his teammates. And, on his head, was a golden headband wrapped around his forehead. Not only that, he has this fearless smile on his face, like he owns the world.
The Biters, while they don't show much, they were very, very intimidating. Teeth as sharp as daggers, eyes darker than obsidian, and skin as blue as the oceans. They are shark demi-humans, proof of that were their gills in the sides of their necks. They all wore blue doqi, and it was clear that there were no leaders amongst them. They would growl at each other from time to time, trying to show dominance to each other.
And, finally, the Iron Defense Squad, that have backs covered with silver scales along with their long, thick tails. They also have silvery scales covering their legs and arms. These are the armadillo demi-humans, capable of tanking physical attacks. They sometimes use their legs and arms as weapons, as they grow very sharp nails that could pierce through mythril armors. They looked very coordinated, unlike most of the teams here that only have 1 leader and 3 goons to order around.
They wore white doqi. Though not very obvious, there was one of them that really stands out in my eyes; the female one. While very beautiful, I'm not attracted to her in any sorts of way. It's just that the reason she caught my eyes was because how she has this haughty aura, like a princess that's been pampered ever since she was born.
All of my enemies had distinct differences to each other, but they all had the same look in their eyes; they wanted to win.
'These people are serious as hell! I can't just rely on my teammates this time, they'll be destroyed even before they manage to eliminate a single team. And things have gotten more difficult for us since the place for the arena has changed. if we land in a forest or the mountains after going through that door, the monkeys and the armadillos would have the advantage over us!' I said in my thoughts, looking at the other team.
Knowing my master, he might have a plan to make things more challenging for me.
Well, I'm not complaining! Now I can finally have a real fighting experience that doesn't involve any overpowered enemies!
I stood up, and said to my team, "Let's go."
I jumped down, looking at my opponents with analytical eyes.
When I landed, I only smirked at them, as I said, "Well, my apologies, but all of you were born under the wrong stars to have me as your opponent!"
One of the shark demi-humans snarled at me, "What did you say, you little punk!?"
"I have no reasons to repeat myself, fish," I smirked.
The shark demi-human looked angry, as all of his teammates. They were aggravated by my taunting, though the other teams seem to have ignored me because of how preposterous the words I said.
"You better watch yourself, little human. We'll be meeting in the dimensional box," He said, trying to intimidate me with his size.
My team landed beside me, and Alice wanted to calm the situation but she knew that it would futile because this is a battle royale, the last team standing wins and the other four goes home with no rewards.
Randy looked at me, and said, "Why did you do that?"
"Just to taunt them. The angrier they get, the better it is for us," I said.
He nodded, and observed the other teams.
It is explained in the books of the sect that shark demi-humans are more likely to make mistakes the angrier they get. But I cannot risk fighting them underwater because they are one of the best fighters in the ocean, only behind the mermaids and dolphin demi-humans, who are direct servants of the Sea Emperor.
They can swim in the sea faster than the speed of sound, and could probably chop me to pieces before I even realize it. And their sense of smell in the water increases dramatically, they can even smell things a few kilometers away from them under the sea! That's why, I have to keep them on land until I defeat them!
And it is good that I don't need to gather points yet in this five-team battle royale, and instead just need to survive.
My master came down in front of us, floating mystifyingly, and when he landed, he amplified his voice with mana as he said, "The rules have slightly changed, young disciples! To win in the five-team battled royale, one team must have the highest kill points out of five teams! That means, even if your team survived and is the last team standing, you still won't win unless you have higher points than the previous teams."
Oh for fu—this now!? This changes a lot of things! Now I'll have to actively hunt for other teams, which means I'll have to be quick unless I lose all of the potential points here!
"One point per one disciple eliminated, that's the rule. And some of you might think that this is a rash decision on my part, you would be partly right. The reason I made this rule just now is because we don't want teams hiding to survive because that will take more time than anything else. And there will be a One-Hour time limit after all of you have stepped foot into the other side of that door. Is there any complaint?" He asked, looking over us.
All of us shook our head, and he smiled, saying, "Then, let us begin!"
The door behind him opened on its own, and we felt the warm breeze of the spring from the insides of that one sided door.
He made us form a line, with each team together.
"Get in, one by one. All of you will be separated from your teams once you step foot in here, so be careful," My master warned us, and we all steeled ourselves.
The other teams were first to enter the door, and when it was my turn, as soon as I stepped into that door, I was sucked in.
Again, I apologize for the late update. I had to do a lot of things today.
And, tomorrow, I have online classes.
Sigh, I know a lot of people out there have it harder than me, but I don't have the mentail capacity to think of others before me. Selfish as may be, but betrayal can lead to trust issues.
Anyway, hope you enjoyed the chapter, stay well, and as always, thank you for reading!
And don't forget to drop some power stones!
