Chapter 1

The sound of rain falling heavily is like a beautiful natural melody. A man in a suit starting to wear out was running through the rain to get to the pavilion where the appointment was made. He immediately dried his rain-soaked face using a handkerchief, occasionally his hands trembled from the cold.

The little pavilion was in the middle of a small forest, that was the only treasure he had left after failing to defend the company he built with blood and sweat after losing many investors. Even so, the very modest man does not want to bother, while there is still his lover who faithfully accompanies his difficulties, he does not care.

To make a living, he works anywhere and is proven to survive even under challenging conditions. He who usually lives a luxurious life and is always surrounded by subordinates is now living a difficult life and has to do everything himself for the last two years. In the past, he was the son of a successful businessman, but now all that is just a memory.

Brian, the man who has blue eyes, smiled brightly as he cut several types of vegetables to make a simple dish to welcome his fiancée—Rose. The woman said she was coming to visit, of course he immediately prepared everything because it had been almost a month since they had seen each other.

Drrrtt'

His cell phone vibrated, and he smiled broadly when he saw the call was from his girlfriend—Rose.

"Hi, darling-"

"Bri ... I can't come today. Suddenly my boss asked me to take care of a project."

Hearing that, Brian's mind tormented. The longing frustrates him so much that it can drive him crazy. "Rose... it's been a month since we last saw each other. Don't you miss me?"

"Gosh, Bri...get it, I want to meet you too but I have no other choice."

"Hasn't Ethan been over-employing you? Just get out of there and apply to another company."

There was a sigh from there. "Bri, only in this company do they want to pay me properly. Don't use your argument with Lucia as an excuse to ask me to leave the company."

"It's not like that, but I think Ethan must have done it because he wanted to prank me since you're my fiancé."

"You always think badly of my best friend—Lucia. Never mind, I'm getting annoyed. We'll see each other this weekend."

"But, Rose—"

Tuuut... tuuut... tuuutt...

The call was cut off and annoyed Brian threw his cell phone in the corner of the room. "Unlucky!"

He put all the vegetables back, he even threw them until they were scattered on the floor. He missed his lover, but every time he was about to meet there was something Rose had to do until the promise ended up being canceled.

He moved to his rocking chair, releasing his tiredness and disappointment by closing his eyes and trying to sleep. Slowly he felt he had arrived at the dream gate, but strangely it was like a dream come true.

"Heeekkk!"

Brian yelped as the stranger's hands gripped his neck tightly. The sound of raindrops made no one able to hear the screams for help from him. He had a hard time seeing who was strangling him, the rain was so heavy that it was hard for him to see.

He tried to rebel, but strangely the body was stiff and he just silently accepted it. Until finally he felt he couldn't take it anymore and fell limp. But suddenly he felt something pull him back and that's when he realized that he had just had a bad dream.

"Unlucky!"

Brian got back up from his rocking chair, he forgot to turn off the stove, and the kettle made a loud sound, thanks to that he also woke up from a damn dream that had made him feel suffocated. He walked to the kitchen and made a cup of coffee to accompany his gray day.

Just as he was about to take a sip of his coffee, he heard a knock on the door from outside. He who thought it was Rose immediately opened the door immediately. However, his hopes were dashed when he saw an older woman in shabby clothes standing in the doorway in poor condition.

"Sir... may I take shelter here for a moment? I'm cold."

To be honest Brian was surprised because he remembered that he had locked the gates of his pavilion. However, seeing the woman's condition, he couldn't bear it and immediately let her in. "Please, madam."

The woman walked in and sat down on a faded wooden chair. Without saying much, she immediately grabbed Brian's cup of coffee which he hadn't drank one bit. "Thanks for the coffee, it helps."

"Do you need a towel or blanket? I have a jacket too, you can wear it—"

"This alone will suffice, sir. If I may, may I ask for some food?"

"Sure if you want to wait, madam."

Brian immediately returned to the kitchen, continuing his unfinished cooking for the poor, rumbling older woman. He may not be as rich as he used to be, but he can still be helpful to others with his abilities.

He returned with a plate of his homemade vegetable risoto and a glass of hot drink for the poor woman who was waiting eagerly for him. When she saw Brian coming, she smiled broadly.

"Thank you sir...thank you."

"Eat, madam."

The older woman grabbed Brian's palm, taking the man by surprise and almost brushing it off. "In return for your help, I will read your future, sir."

"Can you read the future?"

"A little." The woman looked at Brian's palm firmly, then frowned. "Sir, your luck is not very good."

Hearing that, Brian smiled bitterly. "Right, my luck is very bad."

The older woman fished something out of her pocket and put it on Brian's finger. "Wear this, he will protect you."

Brian looked at the ring, although he didn't believe in such superstition himself, he didn't want to offend her. "Thank you, Madam."

"Could you give me a jacket?"

"Of course."

Brian went to his room, choosing the best jacket he had for the older woman. However, when he came back, how surprised he was to see that the woman was no longer there and the food had not been touched.

He thought she might be going to the toilet, but he couldn't find her anywhere. Brian returned to his dining table, eating the vegetable risoto to fill his empty stomach. Suddenly there was a knock on the door, he immediately got up and opened the door because Brian thought maybe the older woman was back.

But suddenly someone from behind the door attacked him with a wooden block.

Buuugghhh!

Brian collapses, unconscious with a blow to his head. While the mysterious figure it immediately dragged his body out under the pouring rain.
