Chapter 34

I looked back up at Nicholas, seeing that he was running a hand through his dark hair in an awkward manner. He was staring down at the leaves below, a hint of red spreading across his cheeks. Well that was odd, even for this man who seemed to hardly show any signs of weakness or embarrassment in front of others. "Uh....I think it'd be best you take her back home, Marcus. It's getting late and her father should be home earlier today."

"Why? You let everyone out early again?" I asked, surprised that my dad was actually coming home early. It was only on rare occassions that he ever did, so the thought of him coming home at this time in the middle of week without any holiday occurring, I had to say I was startled. He was probably worrying about me since I tend to go straight home after school. Great, now I have to face the wrath of the sudden over-protective father. It only occurred whenever it was highly necessary, like today.
