Chapter 13

"Well, how are you going to do that?" The sound of her voice let me know that there was no turning back now. She wanted to meet the woman who will bear her grandchildren and there was nothing in this world that would stop her from getting what she wanted. She was quite a persistent woman if you asked me.

I stayed silent for a few short moments before responding, "I don't know. I'll have to see."

"Well, get to it. I want to meet my daughter-in-law soon. I'm not a patient woman you know," she said, spinning around and exiting the kitchen.

"We know," we all muttered in unison. At the sound of our voices, she spun around and glared at us. We all gave her a mocking smile before we all burst out laughing. She let out a frustrated sigh before muttering to herself, "how do I put up with these boys?"

When she was finally out of earshot, my father turned to me, all humor gone from his features. "You sure you can handle this?"
