Chapter 39: Chats with Mom

“Your father tells me you’ve met your mate,” Charlotte said, handing me a glass of water before sitting down.

I thanked her and gulped it down. I hadn’t realized how parched I had become. It was definitely worth it though, I enjoyed speaking with everyone.

“Did he?” I asked. “Because I distinctly remember him telling me I was too young to know whether I had actually met my mate.”

She sat quietly beside me for a moment. “I understand where he’s coming from.”

I turned to face her. I wasn’t really in the mood to defend myself for the second time. However, I found no malice in her gaze.

“What do you mean?” I asked.

“As the Luna of this pack,” she said, taking my hand in hers, and a comforting smile graced her lips. “I can’t say I’m very happy that your mate is the Alpha of the White Moon pack.”

I opened my mouth to interject, but she spoke again, not giving me a chance.

“But as your mother, I couldn’t be more happy that you’ve found your life partner, my Kiara.”
