I woke up to the ringing of my phone. I moved my arms across my sheets, trying to find the device. Eventually, I pulled it out from under my covers.
“Hello?” I groggily called into it.
“Hello,” Luke said across the line, mimicking my tone. “What were you up to last night?”
I laughed. “Alex and I were watching Twilight.”
“Twilight,” Luke repeated with a sigh. “Again? Should I be worried about your type being a bloodsucker?”
“No,” I said, giggling. “I like my men furry.”
“While I find that extremely comforting,” he drawled out. “Not. I wanted to know if you’d like to accompany me to lunch.”
“Well,” I said, pausing on purpose. “If I have to.”
“You wound me, truly.”
“I’m kidding,” I said laughing into the speaker. “Of course, I will gladly join you.”
“Great! I’ll pick you up in a bit.”
We ended the call after saying our goodbyes. I stretched my arms out and stared at the ceiling with a smile, before getting up and heading to the bathroom.
