Tara’s POV
“It was like something shot through me…” Victor said. I felt his chest rise and fall against my cheek as he spoke.
“It wasn’t like a small drip… Just everything all at once. It was so overwhelming I had to remember how to breathe—you know sometimes when all of a sudden, you’re aware that you’ve been breathing mechanically, but then you start breathing naturally, on your own?”
I could feel him as he shifted his head down to look at me, and I smiled as I nodded my head in agreement.
“It was like that, like I couldn’t believe I hadn’t always been feeling everything I felt in that moment before. Like I was… agh, I don’t know—does this make sense?”
“It does.” I intertwined our fingers together. “That’s what it felt like for me, too. I felt everyone’s emotions, all their fear, their anger—even your mother’s. It was devastating and…”
“Powerful.” Victor finished for me, and I hummed in agreement. “It felt powerful.”
