CHAPTER THREE

"You wretch! What are you doing here?" Olivia pull Genevieve by the hand. "Stalker! Why are you stalking us?"

"I told you," Amanda fold her arms across her chest. "She is a desperado!"

I quickly dismiss the airport attendants and turn to Genevieve. I share an intimate smile with her that had her smooth cheeks turning rosy and her big brown eyes narrowing with annoyance. I was happy to see her.

"Hey, Genevieve.." I struggle to say. "How did you get here? What are you doing here?"

She smile politey at us. "How did you know my name?"

I didn't hide my confusion, we all didn't. What exactly was she up to?

Olivia laugh hysterically. "Drama doll.." She puts her hands on her hips, stepping closer to Genevieve. "Let me guess, you took a health loan, flew down here, just to stalk us, yeah?"

Amanda shakes her head. "Is this how desperate can you be?"

Just then, a tall, huge, man dressed like a bouncer walk to us, addressing Genevieve.

"Thank Goodness security is here," Olivia exhale slowly. "Officer, please arrest her, she is stalking us." Olivia point at Genevieve.

The man looks at Olivia, with a straight, disgusted face.

"This is madam Genevieve, the CEO of this airport. I don't know who you are talking about but please accord her due respect. We were told you were important guests, hence the CEO herself came to receive you." The man maintain a straight serious face as he explained.

"CEO of what?" Olivia scoffs with Amanda. "Now what kind of sick joke is this?"

"Just few days ago she was begging my boss to change her mind about firing her..this girl, lady.. woman.. whatever she is..is no CEO! She is a low life!" Amanda say.

The man wants to react but Genevieve stops him.

"Hugo.." Genevieve mutter. Her voice didn't sound like the Genevieve I knew. She sounded classier, the other personal assistant Genevieve had a funny accent. "I'll take it from here..you may leave."

Hugo glare us, giving a warning look. "Don't trouble her." He say, sort of commanded us, then bounced off.

Uneasiness hold Olivia and Amanda for two straight minutes. Olivia runs her hands through her hair. Hair she spent a good thirty minutes brushing and containing it in a braid.

"I'm sorry, madam Genevieve.." I smile at her, trying to sound as formal as possible. "My sincere apologies, you really look like my ex personal assistant."

"Really?" Genevieve laughed. "Well, what can I say? Yes my name is Genevieve, but obviously not your personal assistant Genevieve.."

I laughed at that. Bart, Akira and Carly joined me.

"Do your research, I've never met you." Genevieve maintained the smile. "Anyways, you are welcome to Gen Gen's airport and airways. I'm glad to have you. I already arranged a taxi to drop you off at your destination. And don't worry, your jet is safe here..as long as you pay the parking fee." She laughs.

"Sure.. definitely.." I extend a hand for a handshake. "Ethan Smith.."

"Genevieve.." Genevieve say, accepting my handshake.

Genevieve leads us to the cab. As the cab drives off, we all continue to stare at Genevieve until the driver leaves the airport.

"Bart, Akira.." I turn to look at both. "Run a thorough investigation on this Genevieve, I need facts and correct stats."

"Okay." They both say, almost together.

"Unbelievable!" Olivia express her shock and confusion. "How come? Is this a silly prank?" She focus her look on me.

I simply shrug, looking at Carly, Bart and Akira. It seemed the three are just trapped in a world of theirs. No show of interest in the conversation.

Carly busy on her iPhone. Bart and Akira busy in their discussion about the house.

Olivia and Amanda, the worst team. Each time I glanced at them or heard their sound, fresh pain nibbled in my stomach. Slut!

***

I first checked into a hotel, and booked the entire building for a few days. According to Bart and Akira, the house on the hill needs washing and cleaning before settling in.

Olivia had been silent all night. She leaned out of our hotel bathroom so to see the hotel staff over packing boxes and crates.

I force myself not to remember her sex escapade with her other hotel manager. Who else was on her list? Prolly every hotel manager and male attendant.

I couldn't deal with the bad night, not tonight. I wouldn't have cared if she picked some billionaire in the city, but mere hotel managers?

In a short time, I strode out of my hotel room. Walking to the hotel lounge. A little surprised, I see my baby sister, Carly, drinking and laughing all up with the tall man from the airport.. Hugo..yes, Hugo!

I hurriedly walk into the lounge. "Carly!" I scream her name.

Carly cling to Hugo, shutting her eyes in fear.

"Who let you in here? I made private reservations for the whole hotel!" I thunder.

Hugo stands. "My apologies, I work here."

"Then focus on your job! Stay away from my sister, huh!" I yell, trying to control myself.

"No qualms.." Hugo say, handing up and walking backwards to the exit.

"Leave..." I mutter.

"I'm leaving.." Hugo reply.

I watch Hugo walk away. I turn to Carly, glaring at her. I knew I was afraid of having her falling in love. It was a painful process I didn't want her to experience.

She slowly opens her eyes, looking at me. "Ethan.."

"It's fine.." I say, frowning deeply. "I'm sorry I reacted this way."

"No one will break my heart..I promise." Carly look up at me, I clearly see the desperation in her eyes.

"Don't let anyone also take advantage of you and your money." I say sadly. "I'll go now, enjoy your drink."

Carly remains silent, exhaling slowly.

I decide to check the hotel swimming pool area. There I find Akira and Bart, Very serious with their conversation that they don't notice me.

"This is a bad idea, someone needs to stop him.." Akira's voice is unnecessarily worried.

"Ethan is stubborn..his wealth has gotten to his head and made him believe these things don't exist.." Bart also say.

Akira express with her hand, as she speak. "The truth is these things happen. A lot of things happen in this world that is beyond human comprehension. A lot of metaphysical things happen that even scientists can't reveal.

This town for example, around the streets close to the house on the hill, I have heard many occurrences of dead people traveling to another part of the county to start a new life and they disappear immediately someone who knows them sees them.

But due to my spiritual research, I believe there are spirits living amongst us that we can't see. But they can see us.

Now these spirits live amongst us and they are envious of us, why? Because we are beautifully made by the creator. They are ugly because some of them have one eye, or multiple eyes all over their bodies or even many arms all over .

So when someone dies and people claim to see them, I believe it's not the same person that died. Now after they are buried, these spirits go to take their form to live in the human world because they love our world and how we live.

They want to experience it too. Now these spirits take the opportunity to take the body of the young handsome or beautiful person that died untimely to live in the world and enjoy worldly things.

According to the doctrine of the people of this town, they believe it's wrong to speak in the bathroom. They don't speak in the bathroom because they believe some of these spirits stay in the bathroom and watch and picture their naked Bodies and when you speak , they will imitate your voice and your mannerism so when you die they continue to act like you.

The house on the hill, is haunted by these spirits. I am not a religious person but I'm a spiritualist who studies all the religions."

"This is getting scary.." Bart say, obviously scared from his voice.

"Umm.." I clear my throat, making them to look up at me in surprise. I sit beside them. "Guys, I understand your fear, but I will prove you wrong by tomorrow."

"Tomorrow?" Bart ask in confusion.

"Yes, tomorrow.." I reply, looking into the swimming pool, trying to picture the house on the hill. "I am going there tomorrow, with some workers, have it cleaned up then start preparing for my birthday house party."

"I'm sorry but I won't be able to come for the party." Akira say.

"It's either you come or you lose your job." I reply. My voice indicating how serious I am.

"This is not right, Ethan, you cannot forcefully make us attend your party, especially if you know the reason." Bart snap at me.

"It's either you come for my party or lose your job." I snap back, shrugging. "It's not my fault but I cannot fly you all down here, exclusively, then have you bail out on me. See you tomorrow at the house cleaning, or send in your resignation letters."
