Chapter 24: Another Choice

I lay in the hospital bed with Carina and Giselle by my side, I couldn't just stop thanking my stars for having such nice friends who were always by my side.

Memories of how I lived a peaceful life on the island filled my thoughts.

I remembered how I used to listen to mom's teachings as she cooks the family dinner while I just stood or watch her. Sometimes we do have our training.

I clearly remember how she used to tell me that I was going to face something great in the future, I don't know what she mean, but I wouldn't mind.

"How's she doing?

" she will be fin, but she needs a lot of rest now."

When he left, Giselle and Carina couldn't help but stay by my side. Mommy Rene is not back yet, so they needed to stay to avoid unnecessary stories since most of the wolves want me dead.

"Don't worry Vanessa, you will get better "

"I will continue to stay by your side no matter what happens," she said.

As we were still talking, someone badge into the door without notice and walked straight to where we were staying.

" Am looking for a girl named Vanessa" the maid who was in her mid-forties said.

"Any problem?

" No, Just that she has been assigned as the Luna personal maid and she is expected to start work immediately"

" What! Giselle l exclaimed.

"Can't you see she just broke her limbs and she needs some medications"

"Am sorry but that was the order, am not the one who made the decree, am just a messenger" she noted.

"No, she won't resume until she is fine and he.....

"That won't be necessary" Kimberly spoke as she waddled into the compartment.

"I have selected her as mine".

Giselle and Carina quickly bowed as she walked into the room.

"And you two, I think you must be less busy that made you waste your time on her" she shrieked.

"Guards!!!

" yes my lady"

" Take her to my quarters".

"But the doctor said she needs some rest. She just broke her...

" And who are you to order me around" She frowned at them.

"Take her away"

They watch as she was carried by the guards and they left the room.

I was very weak and my mouth went dry at the moment. I couldn't speak or even move my body as I was carried away to her quarters.

When we got there, they just threw me on the floor like trash and I landed like a lump on the hard floor mumbling in pain.

In less than a minute, she arrived and shut the door behind her.

She made some signals to her maid and they all left, leaving the both of us there.

" Now you belong to me, there's no way you can escape your sufferings again"

"Don't worry, as I said earlier, I won't kill you," she snickered.

"You are going to do a good number of chores for some start-up"

"Failure to finish on time will attract beatings and I will deprive you the right to eat.

" Besides, you are in my house so I even get to decide when and what you eat".

"Now get up"

I tried to get up but the pains it caused me was excruciating. I couldn't even move from my spot.

The next thing I saw was unimaginable, she got some whip and started flogging me with it.

"Please stop" I murmured.

"You must be joking, did you remember the same thing that happened to me."

"I got whipped because of a slave, now it's my turn for revenge".

She increased her speed and the whip landed on my back, causing a lot of pain to me. I couldn't bear it any longer and I passed out.

I was brought back to life by the bucket of water that was dribbled on me.

I coughed, opening my eyes.

" Do you think you came here to sleep, you better stand up if you want to live"? The maid groaned.

I held my legs and was shaking when I discovered I have been sleeping in this particular place for the past two days. I was left to die.

That strong energy suddenly burs, and I felt like I have regained my strength again, I stood up and followed the maid quickly, making sure never lost track.

She eventually leads me to where Kimberly was sitting while some maid helped her comb her hair.

"You are finally here?

"Ummm I want you to go and pick some flowers for me inside the garden, I need them in the next two minutes" she demanded.

I hastily walked out of her chambers and stepped to the garden.

The garden was beautiful, filled with various types of flowers and their sweet pungent smells all over the place.

I quickly bent down to pick some flowers but the thongs on it pricked my hand, causing blood to flow.

"Why would she tell me to pick these flowers knowing fully well it has these thorns ".

I wanted to cry, but my eyes were dry. I don't have any alternative than to start picking the, and it caused more wounds and blood on my hands.

When I was done, I carried the basket of flowers and headed back to her chambers.

When I got there, I quickly dropped the basket and announced my presence.

" Am done with what you requested" I said plainly.

"And how many hours did it take You to get those flowers?

" you are too clumsy for my liking, I guess I have to make you agile next time".

She took up the basket and poured the flowers with thorns on my head. I looked at her with so much anger.

"We don't want to see you here again, just find somewhere else and end your miserable life".

"It is only when you leave that our pack will have peace."

"Don't you understand? Ever since you came here, we had enough troubles and death to some of our pack members because of you, do you think the families of those wolves will let you live?

She was correct, am unwanted, I am a stroke of bad luck, a broken vessel, which was never accepted.

"Mother what did I do?

"Why am I seen as an abomination to the world"

I don't want this type of life anymore. I instantly ran out, running towards the shore.

I think it's time to live, time to go back to where I was born, Time to see that beautiful Island again.

"Am sorry Giselle and Carina for not saying goodbye to you maybe I will do so properly when we met again."

"I don't have a choice, fate made me do so....."
