Chapter 37 : One and the Same

It seems like Lorenzo telling me his story brought all those terrible memories to the forefront of his mind. He is staring at me with a murderous rage and a knife in his hand.
“Lorenzo,” I say, putting my hands out in front of me in a non-threatening gesture. “Come on. I thought we were bonding here. I thought we’d gotten past the part of the night where you wanted to kill me.”
I let out a nervous laugh. Slowly, I back away from him, trying to do it in a way that he doesn’t notice I’m inching myself away. But, of course, the monster hunter notices and matches my actions. Lorenzo has trained his whole life so he can kill me.
“You’re a witch, just like the one who killed my mother. You’re a supernatural creature, just like the ones who destroyed my town,” Lorenzo says through gritted teeth.
