Chapter 40: A New Guardian
Dirge POV
Casuhill and the plant both blazed a brilliant orange. “That was masterful,” Casuhill gushed. “Superb! Incredible. So exciting. You are both truly worthy of receiving the plant’s favor.”
The phoenix casuarina waved its leaves in response. It understood.
Dirge could FEEL much more about plants after bonding with Thessi. He knew and sensed so much more, and yet he intuitively grasped that he’d barely scratched the surface. He tried to feel Thessi’s tree through the bond. He wondered if she felt his wolf and if her tree felt his wolf. So many possibilities! So exciting.
Calyx strapped on her potion belt holding the various liquids she used to make potions. “Thank you, O Wise Casuhill. We know you were just doing your duty.”
Smiling and stepping aside, Casuhill pointed to the tree. “You elves, please approach.”
“And me,” Dirge said. “If you wish.”
