Chapter 32: Tug & Push

He could finally focus on the fight, she would be safe as long as they kept them occupied, but just in case he hid her unconscious body. Now, without her eyes tracking her, there was no way for them to find her. He didn't know if they could kill the heroes but he would at least try, there was no way he would let his best friends die. Serena wouldn't take long right? She probably knew about all of this. She would be here soon. They just had to hold out till then.

Shifting his head from the horizon, his eyes landed on Kolya. Then, they grew wide like he'd seen a ghost. Not wasting any time, he dashed, vanishing from his original position and appearing next to Godspeed. He was about to strike one of Kolya's arms with one of his translucent blades when Slava's chains wrapped around it. From there, they slithered onto his body and when they'd gotten a good grip on his limbs, they threw him onto the ground.

Next, he moved onto the Blood Queen. She looked defenseless, but he knew that was impossible. Out of all of them, she was probably the most frightening. Using the last of his momentum, he rushed toward her. But before he could reach her, he noticed something wrong with the air. The movement of the particles was unusual. Focusing, he noticed the air around him was permeated by a red mist and as he looked closer, an image appeared in front of his eyes.

"Jesus," he exclaimed, letting his surprise slip out. Without any further hesitation, he spun himself in the air. Using his chain to halt his advance, he retreated, his back reaching Kolya's.

He couldn't believe she actually possessed weaponized T-cells. They couldn't reach him as long as he had his suit but still, he didn't want to risk it. Who knew what this old have was hiding. Right now, he was more shocked than anything. He'd heard that her suit was a biological weapon factory, but to see it with his own eyes was truly something else. Since he couldn't get close to her, he'd have to suppress her from afar.

"Ah," Kolya panted in his ear. "You're finally here, took you a while," he heard him grin. He was in quite the rough shape. The cracks on his body had gotten wider reminding him of the last time they saw each other. Not wanting to think about it, he shook his head.

"Just like old times eh?" He asked as their foes closed in on them. He remembered how he would ask this during their joint training and he would always reply with… he waited, but the desired answer never came. Instead, his answer was plain and simple.

"Yeah," although it was clear and straight to the point, it left something to be desired. Was he too focussed, was he not paying attention, did he forget? It didn't really matter, but it left a sour taste in his mouth. Something was definitely wrong but this wasn't the time to ponder it.

"Come on kid, hand over the girl and this will all be over," he heard Blackcoda say. To her words, he gazed back at Kolya's almost majestic form, grinning. Shouldn't he also try something new? His chains were an extension of his suit and himself, they allowed him to feel and control movement more precisely. So what would happen if he used them to enhance his movements? Thinking this, he let new chains spring up from his back. This time they didn't spread out, instead, they slithered onto his body, lining his limbs like shackles.

Kolya and Slava knew exactly what they were doing, they'd done this multiple times before. Just that this time it would be slightly different. Spreading their arms, they both bent their knees.

"This is pointless kids," said Anyxa. She seemed hesitant. On the other hand, the others looked unfazed. Slowly closing in on them, Lightbringer was pulsing in a golden glow. The Blood Queen stood in the back, arms crossed as the mist did her bidding, her white suit covered in blood…

Gazing to the side to look at Godspeed who'd been laying on the ground, Slava was greeted by a blade inches from his face. Oh, so he wasn't fast, he simply teleported. Kind of like Sasha. Thinking that, the world turned grey as he tackled him. But instead of taking him to the ground, he simply slithered past him letting his chains wrap themselves around him.

He felt like a mindless zombie, this wasn't the Godspeed of legends he'd heard so much about. Looking through the red mist, Slava's eyes met the bloodied white suit standing at the back and he smirked. As he roughly pulled his chains, Godspeed flew by him, but before he could reach his intended target, a dark figure flashed above him, kicking him to the ground.

"Alright, that's enough, I've given you enough chances…" somehow her voice had turned even more distorted. Dropping on all fours, the black flames around her sparked up as she said: "Time to hunt!"

It was as if a different person had taken control of her body, even her appearance slightly changed. She looked more feral, her skull's teeth moving to have more feline features. Death Demon... her title was more accurate now.

Things were getting serious, there was only one way they had a chance of getting through this. They had to split them up, using each of their weaknesses against them.

Seeing the Death Demon rushing towards him, Slava smirked. She might be stronger and faster, but wasn't she just a beast? As she approached his grin grew. Besides, he'd learned a few new tricks recently, just for her.

"Hey Kolya, let's split them up, Imma take this fine lady." Saying this, Slava faced Anyxa head-on. As she pounced on him, she seemed to slow down mid-air. With lightning dancing around him, Slava took this opportunity to spin around, kicking her into one of the buildings.

He stole a last glance at Kolya. Watching him fly in the opposite direction, pushing Lightbringer back. Good, he got the message. Dashing away he spotted the Blood Queen following him out of the corner of his eye. One less hindrance on Kolya's side.
