5,000 Years Ago

An old man stood in a field, nothing in sight. His long white hair fell to his waist, the wrinkles on his face representing the long years he had lived. He looked around, staring at the puddles of red in a beautiful never ending plain of white. He looked down longingly at a blonde haired man, face down in the ground.

Behind him stood a towering figure of hundreds of feet tall, covered in red scales. The figure's face was one of age and wisdom, a look one could achieve only after living for millions of years. Yet it bowed down respectfully at the old man, closing its wings to its side and kneeling.

Tears flowed from the old mans face, dripping onto the floor and sinking into the ground. Finally, the old man looked up from the corpses of his comrades and stared at the sky. In a raspy voice, he spoke the last words he would ever speak.

"God, or rather Gods of this universe, I beg of you one last time. Even after discovering so many of the secrets of this world, I was powerless in the end. Even after summoning one of the most powerful beings in the mortal world, I was unable to protect my comrades. In this world that is not my own, I have fought for years and years, and yet there has been no end to this war.

Why did you create us this way? With 2 sides, destined to fight for eternity. Why is it that as descendants of gods, we are unable to live forever. We humans have not lived for long, and neither have the beasts. Yet because of you we will fight for all eternity. Is this really what you wanted? Waiting all these years for meaningless bloodshed, sacrificing your own flesh and blood just for your entertainment?

Even in my own homeland where humans are at the top of the food chain, the beasts don't hesitate to throw away their lives just to kill us. Yet in this world where the humans are weak. The God of this world gave birth to a beast child stronger than the human one... But why? Us humans are intelligent and the beasts are not. So please, I know you can hear me."

He took off a ring on his left middle finger and held it out.

"Please, give this to Brandon's children. One who does not bear his last name, but is of the same blood. It doesn't matter if it takes thousands of years, but give this to him so he can fulfill Brandon's dreams which he never could."

With that, his piercing black eyes turned gray. His body slowly turned to stone, and his once beautiful red hair crumbled. The last thing he ever looked at being the young blonde man, whose blood was seeping out of his body, his very essence being sucked out by the world. At last he disappeared into nothing, and the dust that was once a powerful man blew away.

His golden ring dropping onto the floor, the white gem on it resonating a light hum. The ring disappeared in a pop, leaving only an indent where it once was. Snow started falling from the sky, wrapping the world in a snowstorm that would last until the end of time.
