The Battle for Erika! Gray vs Alice! Part 2

November 20 11:35 AM

Randall Court

Courtroom No. 10

The judge hit the sound block with his gavel and the gallery got quiet.

'Alice seems a bit different...is she planning something?' Gray looked at me then smirked and shook his head. 'Nah, I know all of her tricks and bluffs.'

"Court is now back in session for the trial of Erika Ray! Mr. Dawn, the prosecution may now call upon its witness." The judge said.

"The Prosecution calls Wayne Ford to the stand, Your Honor." Gray said.

Wayne Ford walked to the stands and I looked at him. He looked at me and I looked at him ready for him to give his testimony.

"Name and occupation." Gray said.

"Name: Wayne Ford. Occupation: None." Wayne said.

"You may give your testimony Mr. Ford." The judge said.

~[What I Witnessed That Night]~

"I was at the lake at night, just wondering around. I saw Erika at the scene of the crime pull the trigger and kill Erik Gregory. After that, I went to report to the police." Wayne said.

'That was a very vague testimony...' I thought then shook my head. 'There has to be a lie somewhere in there. I have to press him, make him tell the truth!'

"Ms. Holmes, you may begin your cross-examination." The judge said.

"So...Mr. Ford. What were you doing on at Newham Lake?" I asked.

"Walking around just as I said." Wayne answered.

"You see, I find that very hard to believe. You said you saw Erika shoot the man...but if you recall Riley's testimony, the murderer was male." I said.

"OBJECTION!" Gray crossed his arms and shook his head. "If you also recall, we proved there was no way Riley could be for certain that the killer was a male or female as she panicked."

"That's what you wish to believe." I said and picked up papers and tapped the back of my hand on the papers. "Two gunshots, and the murderer charged her which she knew it was male because she saw the figure of him. You see at first you had me cornered because I didn't know how to counter any of your arguments, but things are different now!"

"How so..?" Gray opened his eyes.

"The killer couldn't have been Erika because the autopsy clearly states he died before 12:45 AM...way before Erika even went to the Lake!" I pointed at lake.

"Urk!" Gray looked at me shocked.

"There is one piece of information that you've missed, Erika was never at the lake by the time the picture was taken because you could've saw three shadows on the ground instead of two!" I pointed at the picture on the screen.

"Tsk..tsk..tsk...You are a fighter till the bitter end, Ms. Holmes...but if Erika isn't the killer then who is?" Gray asked.

'This is it, time to make the final connections!' I slammed my hands in the desks and glared at Gray. "Orion Ray is the killer! He wanted revenge because one his wife cheated on him with Erik Gregory and two Erik Gregory caused him to lose his job and tarnish the Ray Family's name!"

"But Orion Ray hasn't existed for 14 years...your argument makes no sense." Gray smirked.

The judge hit the sound block with his gavel and looked at us.

"He is right Ms. Holmes. Can you prove that Orion Ray is the murderer of Erik Gregory?" The judge asked.

'Are you ready sis?' I spoke to Olivia via telepathy.

'Yeah.' Olivia nodded.

"Right here!" We both pointed and Olivia balled her fist and held her arm as her Spirit Seals began glowing.

"O Great Spirts of Kazai, allow me to summon upon Erik Gregory!" Olivia held up her hand and a bright blue light filled the courtroom.

Everyone covered their eyes from the bright light. A heavy gust of wind filled the courtroom as a male spirit was summoned upon the courtroom. The light dimmed and the wind stopped. The judge was surprised and took his gavel from his head and looked at the spirit of Erik Gregory. Gray looked amazed by Olivia's abilities.

"The victim himself stands before us thanks to my sister's abilities." I smirked and placed my hands on my hips. I was a lot more confident. "Now, victim, name and occupation."

"My name is Erik Gregory...my occupation used to be an Ace Detective." Erik said.

"Sis..he has a short time limit, I can't keep him here long." Olivia said.

"Right. Erik Gregory, I have one question for you. Who was the person who killed you?" I asked.

"...Orion Ray..." Erik said.

The gallery was a bit spooked and some were confused, most in awe. Even the judge was captivated by the sheer abilities of Olivia to call upon a spirit who will actually answer us. The spirit soon disappeared and Olivia panted and leaned against the desk.

"Are you okay sis?" I held her.

"I'm fine..." Olivia smiled and looked at me.

"That still proves nothing!" Gray laughed. "How can you prove it was Orion Ray if he doesn't exist anymore?"

"He does infact still exist!" I said.

"Oh?" The judge looked at me. "Who is Orion Ray then?"

I pointed at Wayne Ford and the gallery began chattering in a questioning manner. The judge hit the sound block three times with his gavel and the gallery got quiet.

"Ms. Holmes, how can you be so sure that Wayne Ford is Orion Ray?" The judge looked surprised.

"Yes, what is your proof? This is the court of law! You need proof to back up your atrocious claims!" Gray snapped his fingers.

"Proof? Ha!" I looked at Gray and tapped my head and smirked. "Isn't it convenient how after Erik Gregory's death, Orion Ray never existed? My father said he saw him 3 years ago. Orion Ray existed then, but now he doesn't? Why?"

"Your father is old and delusional. All of the dangerous adventures he's been on has scattered his memory." Gary closed his eyes and crossed his arms.

"What a load of crap. We all know my father, Sherlock Holmes, has the memory of a Divine Being. He's never the one to lie under any circumstances!" I pointed at Gray. "Answer me this, what makes you sure Wayne Ford ISN'T Orion Ray?!"

Gray opened his eyes and glared at me. I smirked as I now had him cornered. Even then the battle is still far from over. I have to prove that Erika isn't the killer and Wayne Ford aka Orion Ray is! Gray smirked.

"His ID." Gray said.

"His ID..?" I looked at him.

"May the witness take out his ID please and show it to everyone?" Gray asked.

Wayne took out his ID and handed it to Gray then Gray handed it to the Judge and the ID was shown on the projector. The ID said Wayne Ford on it and I crossed my eyes and looked at it.

"See? It can't be Orion Ray because that's not him!" Gray laughed.

"OBJECTION!" I pointed and shook my head then wagged my finger and smirked. "You forget I have everyone's profile."

"Wha--" Gray looked shocked.

"Now tell me something...Wayne Ford and Orion Ray look awfully familiar. Same facial features..same eyes...same nose. Now how can you tell me this.." I showed a picture of Orion Ray. "Doesn't match this?"

I turned the picture back to the ID shown on the screen. I crossed my arms and walked back behind the desk then looked at Gray.

"Have you ever heard of impersonations?" Gray asked.

"I knew you'd say that...you didn't realize my plan did you? You see what are you wearing on your hands Gray?" I asked.

"Gloves. Why does this matter?" Gray asked.

"You really don't know everything about me...You never caught onto my Ultimate Bluff! I forced your hand Gray! He took his ID out with his barehands, his fingerprints are all over his ID!" I pointed at Gray.

"WHA--" Gray looked shocked.

"Your Honor! I would like to scan the fingerprints on the ID and compare them to Orion Ray!" I said.

"OBJECTION!" Gray said and began sweating profusely.

"Overruled." The judge said. "Bailiffs! I authorize a full scan of the fingerprints of this ID and compare them to the fingerprints of Orion Ray!"

"Yes sir!" An officer put gloves on and took the ID and went to scan the fingerprints.

'Gray...You had me in the first round of this battle...but you forget that I am the daughter of Sherlock Holmes and Iris Watson. No matter what...you can't beat an unstoppable force with an immovable object..' I thought to myself.

Five minutes later and the officer came back with the results.

"They are the same!" The judge said in shock.

"Now you see jury of the court, Wayne Ford is Orion Ray! It is proven that Orion Ray is the murderer of Erik Gregory!" I said.

"Heh...HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!! You and your father piss me off!" Wayne laughed and glared at me. "You think you're so damn smart!"

"What terrible father you are. Look what example you're setting for your daughter so looked up to you at one point!" I glared.

"Daughter? I have no family, they mean nothing to me! Nothing but disappointments! Disappointments! I managed to get rid of one...the eldest just happened to get lucky and move out!" Wayne said.

The entire courtroom was silent in shock. Erika's eyes widened and tears filled her eyes. The truth was out.

"You killed...Natalie..?" Erika looked at her father in disbelief and heartbroken.

"You were so lucky that you were able to escape me...you would've shared the same as her...you know you can see her now!" Wayne laughed and pulled out a gun and aimed it at Erika. Erika froze and looked at her father in shock. He was about to pull the trigger.

"Stop it!" Mari yelled and her Psychic Seals glowed and Wayne yelled in pain as the voices of his victims began yelling in his head.

Wayne dropped the gun and held his head and fell on his knees. He groaned loudly in pain as he reached for his gun and aimed it at Mari.

"You will not harm my daughter!" Olivia pointed at Wayne and Spirts began holding him down.

"Bailiffs! Arrest this man! Wayne Ford is sentenced to Life in prison!" The judge said.

The police ran towards Wayne and cuffed him. They took him out of the court and Mari passed out as her seals stopped glowing and Sophia caught her. Olivia felt weakened and I caught her. It took around 30 minutes for the court to finally calm down. Erika was at the stands still shocked and heartbroken as she was now all alone.

"This court case was pure insanity...to think Orion Ray killed his family and Erik Gregory...out of revenge..." The judge said.

"Your Honor..." Erika said and handed me her phone to hand to the Judge. "I think I have my answer on why he killed Natalie.."

The judge looked at the security footage from her house that was audio only. He pressed play and the audio began playing.

Natalie: Daddy? What's the matter?

Orion: ...You look just like her...just like that bitch...

Natalie: D-Daddy? W-What are you doing..?

Orion: I can't stand her nor you! Why do you have to look like her!?

Natalie: N-No! Stop it!!

The judge turned the audio off and looked disgusted and covered his mouth. Erika looked dead on the inside and I looked at Erika in shock. Gray crossed his arms and looked at Erika.

"I didn't even think to check the security footage till now...My own father...killed my little sister.." Erika said.

"I-I will now give my final verdict...the court proves Erika Ray is...Not Guilty!" The judge hit the sound block with the gavel. "C-Court is...now ajourned.."

We left the courtroom and I caught up to Erika and grabbed her arm. Her hair covered her face. She didn't try to struggle out of my grip. I pulled her in for a hug and she hugged back. Her body was shaking hard. The others watched sadly and Erika began sobbing.

"I'm so sorry Erika.." I said quietly. "We won...but at what cost..?"

Liliana walked towards us and joined the hug and felt really bad for Erika. Erika was destroyed. After a few minutes, Erika stopped crying and we let go of each other.

"Thank you...For everything Alice..Liliana.." Erika said and wiped her eyes. "You two are really some great friends.."

"It's no problem..." I said.

"Yeah...We will always be there for you.." Liliana smiled a bit.

With that Erika walked off and began her vacation from being a Detective. I soon got a call from dad. I answered the phone.

"Your sister and niece won't be active for a while...they are undergoing a Spiritual Restoration. They used a lot of their abilities. Come visit once in a while okay?" My father said.

"Yes papa." I nodded then hung up.

Greenvile Plaza

I encountered Gray and we stopped and looked at one another. He smirked and placed his hands in his pocket. I glared at him.

"Another lucky win under your wing huh...Seems like when you were born the stars aligned perfectly huh. No one can outsmart you...well no one but me." Gray said.

"Why did you try to do it? Why are you targeting Erika..?" I asked.

"There are things you'd never understand. Things you will never get under your skull, Alice. Just know you only got lucky at delivering Justice to the court. Farewell...friend." Gray walked past me.

I stood there and looked back. I may have won the battle to keep Erika safe...but now that she's lost everything just about...Gray is planning to target her even more. I can not allow Gray to harm Erika for whatever reason...no matter what.

"Erika...I will protect you. I won't let anyone harm you, especially Gray." I said and walked off.
