"Strong liquor?" Chen Jian shook his head with a troubled expression. "The farm is full of farmers, no one drinks alcohol, so there's none in reserve."
"This complicates things," Ye Tian sighed softly, checking Xiaoxin's pulse. She wouldn't last much longer.
Amidst the sighs, Hu Liena stepped forward and asked, "Is the anesthesia meant to put her into a coma? If so, I can give it a try."
Ye Tian's eyes lit up, and he nodded, "Yes, that's right."
"Alright," Hu Liena moved her long, white legs, bending down in front of Xiaoxin. She placed her delicate hand on Xiaoxin's head and silently chanted in her mind, "Second Spirit Skill, Enchantment."
A pink spirit power radiated from Hu Liena's right index finger, spreading over Xiaoxin's entire body. As the skill took effect, Xiaoxin's chest began to rise and fall more slowly and steadily. This was the power of enchantment—it could put someone into a short coma, functioning much like anesthesia.
"It's done," Hu Liena stood up, her expression relaxed. To her, this was a simple task.
Ye Tian focused all his attention on Xiaoxin, and after hearing Hu Liena confirm that the anesthesia was complete, he immediately began manipulating the Taiyi Divine Needle. He used it to bridge the damaged meridians in Xiaoxin's brain cortex.
As Ye Tian operated the needle, several strands of spirit power, finer than hair, emerged from its tip. These threads were extremely tough and could remain inside the body for half a month before gradually dissipating and being absorbed as nutrients—making them the perfect sutures.
After mentally mapping the route for suturing the meridians, Ye Tian took a deep breath, closed his eyes, and relied entirely on his memory and mental power to stitch the damaged pathways. Inside Xiaoxin's brain cortex, the golden threads danced like agile spirits, weaving through the meridians.
Five minutes later, the two broken meridians were perfectly stitched together. Beads of sweat formed on Ye Tian's forehead. Although the process was short, controlling each strand required a great deal of mental energy. Even with his top-tier spirit, the Taiyi Divine Needle, without his strong mental power, he would likely have passed out from exhaustion by now.
Hu Liena, who had been watching Ye Tian the entire time, saw that the suturing was complete and took out a honeysuckle-scented handkerchief. She wiped the sweat from his forehead and asked, "How is Xiaoxin?"
Ye Tian let out a sigh of relief, "She's out of immediate danger, but she's lost too much blood."
Hearing this, Chen Jian's heart tightened. "Xiaoxin has lost too much blood; I fear she doesn't have long."
Ye Tian glanced at Chen Jian and said, "That's why we need to give her a blood transfusion to keep her alive."
"Blood transfusion?" Chen Jian was startled. "Young Master, we can transfuse blood into Xiaoxin?"
This was something unheard of in medical books, which only mentioned that excessive blood loss led to certain death—there was never any mention of transfusions to save lives. Chen Jian couldn't help but admire how much Ye Tian knew.
Hu Liena, wincing slightly, extended her arm. "I'm a girl like her. Take my blood."
She was willing to give her blood to save the little girl before her. Losing some blood was worth it.
Ye Tian chuckled, "Not just anyone's blood can be used. Blood comes in different types, and only matching types can be transfused."
"Generally, the blood types of parents and children have the highest compatibility," he explained.
Hu Liena nodded, half-understanding. "I see, but how do you test blood types? Isn't all blood red?"
She was confused, marveling at how much Ye Tian knew—knowledge she had never even heard of.
"Of course, it's not something you can tell just by looking at it," Ye Tian said with a soft laugh. "But thanks to the special nature of my spirit, testing blood types is no big deal."
Upon hearing this, the panicked Ashin stepped forward, trembling. He stretched out his hand and said, "Young Master Ye Tian, take mine. Whatever it takes to save my daughter, I'll give as much as you need."
"I'll donate too," Xiaoxin's mother said, casting a gentle but firm glance at her daughter.
Ye Tian shook his head. "Xiaoxin needs at least 2,000 milliliters of blood. Even if your blood types match, you can only donate 200 milliliters each."
Due to malnutrition, commoners in this era were weak and frail. Donating 200 milliliters was already their limit. Any more could harm their health.
Ye Tian turned to Chen Jian and said, "Old Chen, gather the farmworkers and ask them to donate blood."
Chen Jian nodded, "Understood."
Many of the farmworkers had seen Xiaoxin before and liked her cheerful and adorable personality. With Ye Tian leading the effort, they volunteered eagerly to donate blood.
Using the Taiyi Divine Needle, Ye Tian tested each person's blood, quickly gathering the amount needed. He did not let them donate for nothing, though. Secretly, he instructed Chen Jian to give each blood donor two gold soul coins at the end of the month. Two gold soul coins were enough to feed a family of five for five months, several times the workers' monthly salary. This small reward was a token of appreciation for their kindness.
Ye Tian placed the blood packs to the side and once again turned his attention to Xiaoxin. Taking a deep breath, he said, "Next, I need to suture the wound on her chest."
With a sharp knife, he carefully cut away Xiaoxin's clothing, which had adhered to her flesh and congealed with blood. Using a small amount of water, he cleaned the wound. On her pale skin, three distinct claw marks stood out starkly.
Seeing this, Ashin and his wife couldn't hold back their tears and turned away, unable to bear the sight. Even Hu Liena averted her gaze. A child so young should never have to endure such pain.
The claw marks were deep but superficial wounds. For Ye Tian, this was the easiest injury to treat. He first used his golden spirit power to nourish the damaged flesh. Then, with swift, nimble fingers, he skillfully stitched up the wounds with the Taiyi Divine Needle. In less than three minutes, the three claw marks on Xiaoxin's chest were completely sutured. Upon closer inspection, the scars were barely visible.
Ye Tian had paid special attention to the fine details, knowing that girls care about their appearance. He wanted to make sure she wouldn't have lasting scars.
Afterward, he took out a slender bamboo tube, pierced Xiaoxin's wrist, and connected it to the blood bag to begin the transfusion. Using bamboo tubes was the only option in this world, as there were no plastic medical tubes for transfusions on the Douluo Continent.
Ye Tian instructed Ashin and his wife, "Xiaoxin is safe now, but in her current condition, she can't be moved. Your home is too far from the farm, so let her recover here for now."
Grateful beyond words, Ashin and his wife knelt and kowtowed repeatedly, expressing their eternal thanks.
Watching them, Ye Tian couldn't help but sigh inwardly. They were a sad reflection of the lower-class commoners on the Douluo Continent. The dazzling world of soul masters and nobles had nothing to do with them. Sometimes, they couldn't even afford the simplest of meals. Their only purpose in life seemed to be generating more gold soul coins for the noble lords. For Ye Tian, saving Xiaoxin was merely a trivial act of kindness. But who would save the other unfortunate commoners, bullied and oppressed by the despicable noble soul masters in other parts of the continent?
As this thought weighed on Ye Tian's mind, he felt a deep sorrow. Protecting his sister while staying on the eastern shores was likely his limit. For everything else, he could only mourn in silence.
Just then, the sound of commotion came from outside the small farm courtyard. Some farmworkers were anxiously trying to stop the intruders. "This is Young Master Ye Tian's residence. You can't go in!"
"Get lost!" A menacing voice replied, "You dare block the way of Master Zhou, the grandson of the head of the Spirit Hall's East Sea City branch? What's this 'Young Master Ye Tian'? Before Master Zhou, he's nothing but garbage!"
