Chapter 13.
After the long speech mum gave I had breakfast with Kaiden, Bailey, and mum. At 7:45 I set off to work because I started work at 8 and I didn't want to be late on my first day.
"Hi, where's the accountancy department?" I smiled at the receptionist but all I got was a grunt before a reply and he didn't even have the decency to look up at me while replying.
Rude much?
I stepped into the elevator and pressed the button with the number 25 on it. It was like a 7-minute ride.
Once I had stepped off the elevator, I looked around for Mr. Bradley but unfortunately, I couldn't find him anywhere so I headed to my office after asking a co-worker for directions.
I slowly pushed my door open and was met with a man who sat in my chair facing the window.
"Uh, can I help you?" I asked warily.
He did a 'come here' motion with his fingers so I walked up to him and I was pulled swiftly into a lap.
"Oh fuck. You're the CEO, aren't you? Actually, don't answer that. I can provide my answer. Smith Inc. Liam Smith. Both have the name Smith in it. I've got an idiot as a boss." I sighed dejectedly and buried my head into his shoulder.
"This idiot is the person who pays you, so watch your mouth young lady!" he smacked my arse lightly and gave me a quick peck.
"Get out Liam I've got work to do."
"Yes, sir!" he saluted while laughing and left but not before giving me a quick kiss on the cheek.
I sat at my desk and looked through the drawers before opening the laptop on the desk and doing my work.
At 1 pm, I went out for lunch with Bailey and I got back at around 1:30 pm.
When I got back, I went on my phone for a little while. It had been on silent ever since I came to work so I didn't realise I had a message on it.

My mouth will get me in serious trouble one day.
I'd tell Liam what happened when I finished my shift. I would not be one of those girls who received threats and got blackmailed and stuff but didn't tell anyone. That would only lead to more trouble and if something happened everything would be delayed because no one would know what had happened that caused an incident so they'd try to figure out what had occurred and they'd waste time instead of looking for the victim.
I stayed at work until 4pm and then I headed to the top floor to talk to Liam.
I tried to go to the door but his secretary wouldn't let me pass.
"Can I help you?" I asked rudely.
I really wasn't in the mood for anyone's bullshit.
"Mr. Smith has told me to not let anyone disturb him so I ain't gonna let a nobody like you go in when even I can't go in without his permission so no you can't go in!" her high-pitched voice made my head hurt.
"Watch me." I smirked.
I pushed past her and opened the door.
"Veronica! I told you to not let anyone in!" Liam bellowed without looking upwards.
"S-Sir I tried to stop her but sh-"
"Oh, shut up and get the fuck out!" I grunted.
At the sound of my voice, Liam looked up.
"No, you bitch get out of here right now or I'll have security escort you out!" Veronica yelled and stomped her foot on the floor childishly.
"Watch the way you talk to my girl Veronica! Now get out or you are the one security will escort out!" Liam said.
Veronica nodded meekly and left the office and I shot her a smug smile while she snarled at me.
"Are you okay? Because if you're perfectly fine then I'm gonna have to ask you to leave because I'm busy." he smiled apologetically.
I walked up to him and sat on the edge of the desk.
"I'm not gonna beat around the bush. Someone's trying to threaten me," I showed him the message "but they're doing a pathetic job at it."
"Be careful with stuff like this Kehlani, you never know how dangerous someone can be!" he scolded.
I understood where Liam was coming from but I wasn't going to completely change myself so I could stay out of trouble
What's life without a bit of trouble? And trouble meant fun most of the time.
