The day of the survey
Esmeralda and Kain walked up to their tent with a pile of wood each on their hands. As they approached the tents, there was a yellow glow that Esmeralda noticed.
"What is that? Do you think that McCormick already has a fire going?" she asked.
"Nah, he would need wood for that. Besides, it should be the boy I told to get fire for me" Kain replied.
"Oh, you guys went to get firewood" McCormick said rising from one of the logs of wood that Kain had set when he saw them approaching. He walked up to Kain and made to carry his load but then he changed course and went to Esmeralda from whom he relieved her load.
