Sit with me

He liked submissive women. A man like the prince could get anything he wanted, but he needed to learn that women were different. Of course. He had the looks and body of an Adonis, but he had to bend a little more to get what he was yearning for. What if he didn't want anything at all?

Rain was pouring outside, and Esmeralda thanked her luck she had not driven down to her mother's maiden home in Aleshore.

She took four hours to finish up her assignment and progressed to peruse the internet on how to identify a mate for an alpha wolf.

There were several answers on the internet, and Esmeralda was not so sure if it was a good idea; believing things on the internet.

She exited the browser page and emailed prince Kain. It was two already, in the wee hours of the morning. He emailed back almost immediately. He had asked her to add references to her statistical claims!

She grunted and rolled over to one side of her bed. He was an insatiable monster. He was never satisfied with her work. She sat up and reached out to her nightstand to get the files.

She didn't finish until it was past four. After she had successfully dropped it in his inbox, she dozed off. She didn't wake up until it was past eight.

Her phone vibrated from under her where it was buried beneath her. She had been sleeping on her phone. A message from Ravina was floating atop the screen of her phone.

It read: Board meeting at ten! The prince is mad!

She jumped down from her bed and had the quickest shower of her life. Her wardrobe was a huge mess. Her mother's detailed blueprint of her life restricted her choice of clothes. Most of her clothes looked like revived fossils from the regency era.

The prince had never complained about her choice of wardrobe, and she strongly believed he wouldn't today. She drew out the nearest gown her hand reached first and tossed the hanger on which it was hung aside.

It was a blue gown with a wide slit in front. She wasn't sure if it was a good idea, dressing like that to work. Even her mother would cringe at this dress, but wasn't it her mother who had asked her to learn the art of seduction? But then there was the board meeting. She was supposed to pull off a decent look.

Her phone vibrated again on the nightstand and she just swung the gown over her head. Next she oiled her hair. If she didn't, her hair would be looking like a tornado had twirled right through it. Her eyes were a bit swollen from inadequate rest and sleep, so she applied some powder to put some shine on her pale face.

Then came the mascara. The first attempt had her looking like she had tumbled right out of the TV screen of a horror movie. She searched for a wiper in her drawer and wiped the black tears from under her eyelids. It caused a black patch instead, and she couldn't risk looking like a raccoon at work.

She wiped the whole of her face and neck with a clean wiper and started afresh. She tied her hair into a chaotic bun and gave herself a once over in the mirror. She looked exactly like a stressed out salary earner.

Her phone was still vibrating on the nightstand, and she didn't dare pick it until she was on her way to the royal fashion house.

Prince Kain was having a hard time trying to calm his father's business partners into postponing the meeting. Perhaps if his slouchy personal assistant would arrive any faster, things would be made easier.

There was Sir. Harold of Harold's Holdings. He was a big sponsor, an invaluable one at that but his offer was coming with an expensive request. He was going to fund the next fashion show if he was allowed to take over the textile industry of Price And Prize which was situated outside Havana.

Kain clenched his fist, wanting to shove into the hard mahogany of the huge table. Just then, the doors swung open and she walked in. The soft sway of her hips as she walked and the flounce in the slit of her dress drew him to her.

He saw her stop in the middle of her tracks to look around. Was she searching for her? There was an empty chair beside Sir. Harold.

He watched her turn to the other side to take her seat close to Sir. Harold.

He flexed his jaw, annoyed at her childishness. Sir Harold bent to her level to whisper something to her and she nodded before blushing. Only he had the right to make her blush! Where was that even coming from? He reined in the animal in him and rose from his chair.

Ravina had been kind enough to send her the subject of the meeting. There was an unfinished business Prince Kain was trying to settle with one Sir Harold. She increased her pace, careful not to break her ankles. Her heels were that high to end her life.

She was getting closer to the meeting hall. She had never been in the meeting hall before. She stood for a while behind the door, grateful it wasn't see through so she could converse with her subconscious.

After wasting enough time, she held both knobs of the door and pulled it. There was an inscription on the door that said pull.

The cold air of the meeting room filled her lungs barely after she had made three steps into it. Staff from Price And Prize were seated round the table, with three other people she had no idea who they were, bending beneath the table like coup plotters and discussing in hushed tones.

Then she saw him. It was not normal for her to want to lunge herself at him and sit nowhere but on his lap. Straddling him crept into her mind and she made an instant U-turn to sit beside the oldest out of the three strange people.

The closest to her looked older. Older than Prince Kain even. He moved closer to her and asked her if she was Kain's PA. She nodded. Then he went ahead to compliment her physique. She blushed, more from embarrassment than from silent acknowledgment of the compliment.

He had said:  'Have you by any chance modeled before?'

She saw Kain rise from his chair. The meeting wouldn't start without him, so where was he going?

She frowned when he rounded the corner, he was making his way towards where she sat. He drew her chair back forcefully and grabbed her by the arm. Though he was gentle, she didn't like that he was making a spectacle.

She rose from her chair without saying a word.

"Stop flirting with old men." He whispered as he led her to his own side of the table. There were probably eyes glaring daggers at her back.

"I'm not flirting. I prefer my other seat. I shouldn't be sitting with you in the same row." Prince Kain held the small of her back, not listening to her mutter gibberish. The scorching heat of his palm against her lower back was doing inappropriate things to her.

"Sit with me like a submissive or you'll have the other side of me to face." His nose came in contact with her neck and she struggled to focus so she wouldn't falter in her steps.

Ravina was smiling from where she sat. If only she knew…

Kain nudged her back to reality. He drew out a chair from under the table and he spread out his arms.

"Sit with me." What was he playing at? Especially in front of these people.
