Angela POV
Following Cayden around as long as I have has taught me one thing.
He is totally oblivious.
It’s like he has no sense of self-awareness. He walks along with his mother, emotions radiating off him like a beacon in the night. Clearly, he hasn’t been sleeping either, but I can only do so much.
Although Cayden thinks he gave me the day off, there is no way Maverick wouldn’t kick me to the doghouse—literally, and figuratively—if he knew I let Cayden out of my sight.
That wasn’t part of the deal.
No, the deal was that this would be my last mission.
It wasn’t a lie when I said I had a boyfriend. Except said boyfriend lives across state and pack borders.
All I have to do is protect Cayden, and Maverick will give me his blessing to leave the Ganymede pack.
It seemed like a simple enough request, albeit a little under my skill set.
I am a highly-trained warrior, part of the elite.
I’m not a babysitter.
