Chapter 15

For a few moments they lay still, gulping air as the afterglow faded and dimmed, as close as two people could be. He was still in her, although he was going soft. So long as she didn’t move, she could hold him with a gentle squeeze of her inner muscles and it felt so good she wanted to stay there forever.

“Oh, babe, I’m sorry. I just plain forgot, got carried away. I didn’t think to get a condom. I’m healthy, I guarantee, disease free. You won’t get anything nasty from me, but still, I should’ve remembered.”

His words jolted her out of a half-drowsy contentment. “I’m to blame, too. It never even occurred to me to remind you about protection. It’s okay. I don’t have anything either. I’m careful.”

“Are you on the pill or something?”

“Had my tubes tied when my second kid was born. We couldn’t afford any more. So no worries.”

He sighed. “I almost wish that wasn’t the case. We’d make a good-looking kid, and probably musical, too. But that’s okay. I understand.”
