Tails of Acalarah - The Young King
This is the story of a King who obtained the throne by his own hands and his own means. fighting war and many battles, but the biggest battle he ever faced was himself. A lover of many women and the Kingdom's known playboy, flirty and confident on the outside, but inside, he was fighting the internal struggles of the darkness raging inside his heart which he battled with anger, hurt, pain, loneliness, evil thoughts which he battled against every day to not give in to desires he fought with, to dealing with betrayal by those within his own family. From being a prince, to now becoming King in his father’s place, King Leon, was his name. His unlikely friendship with a servant by the name of Maia, who is one of the most highest-ranking servants to be close to the King to serve him as he needs and seems to bring some sort of comfort by her presence whenever she is around him. She has a secret that she cannot tell anyone: she is a warrior of the night, serving and protecting the crown in secrecy, along with her selected few servant friends who are faithful to the crown. She is both servant and warrior of the night. The unlikely friendship of a powerful King and his servant leads to a special bond that no one can understand between the two, a bond so close, that cannot be easily broken. This in turn leads to conflicting feelings to develop within the troubled King and this kind-hearted servant, willing to do anything for her King, where a relationship between royalty and servants is forbidden and are banish able from the Kingdom by the laws of Acalarah, even the King himself cannot break the Kingdom's own laws. On the brink of war, through much trial and challenges along the way, will their bond develop into something much deeper than that, than just a servant and King relationship?
Chapter 16: I have many lovers
As they both sit back down on the grass overlooking the kingdom, "How about you?" What do you do?" He asked her softly looking at her, as the kingdom lights reflected on her skin and sparkled beautifully and brightly in the distance, in the moonlight under the clear starry sky, feeling the cool autumn breeze upon their skin, flowing through their hair. "Me? I am a servant of our King, King Leon Acalarah." She smiled at him softly. "You serve the king?" He asked her softly. "Yes, I do.. I am a servant of the palace…recently I've just been promoted to personal servant of his highness, King Leon of Acalarah…. It is the most prestigious position any servant can have, and I am more than honoured to be honest with you with such a position to be so close to the King" She responded softly yet with honesty in her voice. "Maybe that's why your friend was jealous to you earlier?" He asked her. "Perhaps… she's always wanted that position for many years to be honest…. To avoid breaking our friendship, I would always recommend her to the headmaster servant, but he declined every request I put in for her…." Maia said sadly, "That is very kind of you…perhaps he saw something differently in you, than in your friend maybe… people see things differently than we do sometimes" Leon said softly, as Maia glanced at him, "Yes… I suppose you are right…. Although, I am honoured to serve him, I… do my best…" she said, yet with some sadness in her voice, as she looked away. "You seem saddened at the thought of serving your king….does he… treat you harshly?" He questioned curiously yet with sadness in his voice, looking away, thinking that perhaps the servants hated their king. "No, I am not saddened, not at all." She said softly looking at him, shaking her head in denial. "I see.." He said saddened. There is a moment of silence between them.
"Do you have anywhere to stay in the kingdom tonight, Xavier? You are more than welcome to stay at my house tonight, or I know a place where you can stay, this place will allow traveling strangers accommodation. this was set up by our King recently, you will be more than welcomed there." She said kindly, not knowing his circumstances, "You are very kind, are you always this trusting towards strangers, especially men you do not know, what if your lover were to find out you were unfaithful to him?" He asked her in a stern yet serious tone of voice, "Well, firstly, if you wanted to do something, you would have done it by now, Secondly, I am not being unfaithful, what am I doing wrong to be unfaithful?" Maia questioned straight forwardly, as she was just friendly and had a free spirit, "the man you were with before?" Leon questioned out of confusion and curiosity. "Oh, Kusava?" Maia said as she smiled softly, "you seem to love him…." Xavier said in a wise yet understanding voice, "Yes, you could say that…" Maia responded softly, nodding her head in agreement.
"He should hurry up and marry you then, otherwise, another man could take your heart…" Leon responded in a husky tone of voice, as he laid down on the grass, his arms behind his head, looking up at the stars. "I wouldn't be unfaithful to him, even before marriage…" Maia responded softly. Leon looked at her for a moment. "Is that so?" Leon responded in a husky tone of voice out of curiosity. "Yeah…" Maia responded simply. "I don't believe in unfaithfulness; I don't care who it is…" Maia said with such conviction. Leon smiled at her softly. "Not many women are like that…." Leon responded in this conversation.
"You seem the bold type to hold on to faithfulness" he said to her cheekily in sarcasm to tease her. "Hehe, the same can't be said about my King" she chuckled. "What do you mean?" he asked her. "Well, my King has many lovers, so I don't understand how some people can be unfaithful outside of marriage" she said in a calm laid back casual manner.
When Xavier heard this, he nearly choked on some water he drank hearing her comments. He didn't know how to answer that. "Well, I suppose being King, you can have as many women as you want" he said blushingly. "Still, in my opinion, I believe it's wrong…. But hey who am I to judge right? I am but a servant so I don't have much opinion other than to serve my King… and that's his business…" she said kindly. He looked at her for a moment and went quiet. "My servant thinks I am a whore…" he though to himself.
"and you? Do you have a lover, wife?" Maia asked softly to get to know him a little better. "I have many lovers" Leon smirked to see her response, referring to many women in the harem, he thought to himself.. Maia looked at him for a moment, "man whore…." Maia responded as she looked off into the distance. "Man whore?" Leon questioned "Of course, what man would not be faithful to his lover?" Maia said as she looked at him with such passion in her eyes. Leon was speechless as he didn't know how to answer that. "Why do men do this to women? I mean it's like we all have the same body parts anyways…" Maia said out of curiosity. When Leon heard this, he burst out into laughter at such innocent comments. "What is so funny?" Maia questioned. "I have never heard such a question in my life, hahahahah!!!" Leon laughed further still.
Maia blushed in embarrassment as she looked away suddenly. "Shut up…." She said outspokenly.
"I am sorry, please don't be offended…" Leon chuckled at her. "It's alright, none taken…" Maia responded shrugging off the embarrassment.
As he looked at her, curiosity got the better of him, "Are you perhaps… a virgin, is that why you seem so innocent?" he asked her as he leaned in to hear her response. "None of your business!" she said crossing her arms turning her back on him.
"Oh… so you are?" he asked her honestly. "Why should I tell you?" she questioned him. He smirked for a moment as he looked down crossing his arms as he sat upright, "hold on to your convictions, servant of the King…. Don't lose it just for anyone" he told her tenderly. Maia was awestruck to hear such comments from him, as she smiled tenderly at him, "thank you". "Don't mention it" he told her softly.
Maia took a deep breath as she breathed in the fresh night breeze, smelling the fresh grass as it rained earlier that day, as they both go quiet for a moment, "I love this place…. The kingdom of Acalarah will always be my home. I will do anything to defend it and those who I care for…here" She said with conviction as she looked off into the horizon.
Leon looked at her, lifting his hand to almost embrace her back tenderly, however pulled his hand away suddenly, clenching his fist as he looked away, feeling the conviction that she stood for something, that she had a purpose, made him think of his personal life as a man and as the king for the kingdom, then looked down smiling to the ground, shaking his head, as he went silent for a moment, then responded to her question softly, "Yes, I do have somewhere to stay tonight… I am sure your king is grateful to have a faithful servant as yourself. " Leon smiled at her softly getting up softly from the grass to face her, sitting next to her, in a low soft tone of voice, thinking of going home to the palace to sort out his life, and admiring her courage and honesty, which inspired him to be a better man and a better king.
"I don't think so, Xavier, I did something to him last week that was dishonourable…" She said looking down in shame, "What did you do?" He questioned her curiously, as Leon had forgotten the incident that she threw a glass of water on his face, "I threw a glass of water on his face, and the king's brother had to protect me from him, the king's brother is such a gentleman" She said blushing as she also had a puppy crush on Radeon, as both men were beautiful to look upon.
Leon was drinking water when suddenly, he spat out his water in shock at her comments, almost laughing in amusement and mockery, "I remember now…" Leon thought to himself, "Aha haaaa!!! Radeon?!, a gentleman?! Are his type of the sort of men you are into??"" He said in shock and sarcasm, looking at her, "You know of him, Xavier?" Maia asked in surprise as her eyes lit up hearing their names, Leon forgot himself for a moment, composing himself, "Ahh… well…where I come from, we know Radeon personally…." He said grinning looking away for a moment to compose himself not to blow his cover.
