Knighthood (2)

The healing process was really soothing, it felt like a warm embrace after a hard day. It's green hue emitted over the side of my hip. Laying on my side on a hard bench has never been more comfortable

"Alright, you're free to go." I sat back upright and slowly brought myself to my feet. The hip wound completely healed as I walked back out the door. Multiple fights were still going on as a walked myself down to the far end where I was previously. I took a seat on the side so I could get a good view on the fight. Hu was still fighting strong, especially after an hour of fighting. Apparently I was the only one who lasted more than five minutes so far. The fight ended with Hu pointing his rapier at his opponents neck.

"Medic is in the hall." He looked at the man he had just defeated and turned back.

"And finally, Sam." Hu read off the final checklist with a exasperated sigh.

The little girl I talked to before stepped forward, holding the dagger. Apparently only me and two other people including her used the daggers. She stood in front of him and bowed deeply, holding her dagger close to her body.

"Attack when ready." Hu maintained the same pose he started with.

Sam launched forward at speeds where I could just barely track what she was doing. She swung the dagger at his neck. Hu was caught off guard as he used his rapier to repel the oncoming strike. Sam reacted to this by changing directory, swinging her foot towards Hu's stomach. Hu took the strike and used her momentary focus on his stomach to put the rapier behind her neck. Sam rotated her body and bent backwards to get under the blade.

'Woah, flexible.' I commented. I could barely see her move her body yet she already managed to get out of that dead end.

Hu dropped back into his ready position and lounged forward. Dragging his right foot behind him, he pivoted towards Sam as she tried to dodge the straight forward jab. A long TING could be heard as she slashed the rapier downwards with her dagger. Once again she tried to use her feet for another kick. But this one was fought by Hu, who then lifted her up.

"Well done! You use your body and speed to your advantage but are too focused on what is happening in front of you and not what could happened because of it." He said with a smile as he set her down.

"You may take a seat on a bench and wait for further instructions." He nodded towards the set of benches against the outline of the yard.

She turned towards me and smiled as she walked towards the seat next to me.

"You really surprised me there, no offense, but I thought you were just another pretty boy." She called as she sat down next to me.

"You have great instincts on how to fight. I couldn't believe it when you said that was your first time fighting a person with a rapier."

I nodded and smirked at her.

"What if I told you that was the first time I fought a person ever." I said smugly.

She laughed at my response.

"Well then your a natural!" She responded happily.

"You're very flexible, it honestly surprised me when you bent all over the place." I complemented her as who I assume was the head knight walked into the main arena.

"Alright, now we're going to test magic. people who use physical spells please move to the left, other go to the right." He bellowed out loudly from the indented platform.

I saw a large number of people move to his left, including same who looked at me in surprise when I stayed out on the right.

'Hey system thing, what's the difference between physical spells and none physical?'

[physical spells consist of morphing, enhancement and management of functions in your body. Other magic is divided by elements, which has different subtypes.]

'Well can't I just in case my arm in rock then? Wouldn't that be physical?'

[no, it's not affecting your body in anyway.]

"Alright I'm going to have you guys line up here to show us what you can do." Another mange in a loose robe spoke, his red robe flowed out the back of his armor and shoulders as he stood there cross-armed.

[don't use your ice flame]

'But why?' I said as I walked towards the line of people.

' Why can't I just throw it out there. It won't cause harm, it would make me look cool.' Lining up with the group of people the man in robes asked to show him our best spell and throw it at a large target in front of us. The target was a cardboard cutout of a bear.

[just use lightning, lightning itself is a pretty rare and powerful. If you want to look cool, lightning is still the way to go. While you will get special attention, it might be for the worse.]

The man went by person to person, most people shoot a sharp rock. Seems like earth is the most common form of magic, a couple of water attacks here and there and one fireball. As he got closer to me I started to wonder if lightning was the best option after all.

"Alright, now you." He pointed at me.

'Ah, fuck it what's the worst that can happen.' I charge up a small thing bolt of lightning and shot it forward as fast as I could. The bolt flashed forward faster than all of the other elements from before and it crackled as it blew through the air. Colliding with the practice dummy it exploaded, tearing a small hole in the dummy which slowly repaired as the crackling stoped.

The instructor turned at stared at me with bewilderment.

"Why are you here?" He asked slowly.

"What do you mean sir?"

"Why are you not at the school, they can train you to become a very powerful figure."

"I can not afford it sir" I replied earnestly and fast.

"You know there are scholarship programs for people with rare elements."

"I did not, but I will remain here for the time being."

He looked at me for a moment, trying to get a read on why I would do that. But he seemed to give up and move on as he started to test the remaining people. I hopped out of the line and walked over to the physical magic group. They were each paring off with each other by lifting weights and seeing how much force is behind their punch. Hu was an instructor on this one as well. I watched his movements as he demonstrated how to move while doing it.

"No no no, not like that. Feel the mama flow through your veins. Try and follow my finger" he told a you man who wasn't getting any output.

Watching I saw how he traced the output from the center of host chest to his fists. I tried to imitate the way his finger moved throughout the body by flowing mana down the path.

'Oh that's sick!' I anxiously looked around for more information to try and snag one of these spells. The area was covered with people and instructors as I watched them from the sidelines. Some people were training with different spells, so I tried to follow their flow as well. I couldn't learn anything else sadly. I looked around some more and I found my gaze settling on Sam who was by herself. Sitting down in the lotus position as she absorbed mana. A green aura twirled around her and I fought myself to stop looking at her. The green mana being absorbed had multiple little dots of white being sucked into her petite chest as she breathed calmly. I sat still and watched the scene before me until she opened her eyes.

She noticed me right away and smirked at me before walking over.

"Seems like we both passed our little section. I heard that after this we get to go out and fight some things. That's why their going through this long process, ya know. So nobody dies for being incompetent " she said as she sat down beside me.

"Makes sense, looks like everyone over here is finishing up." I replied turning towards her.

Everyone started to wrap things up as people who have been sitting in the corners waiting for testing to be finished started to line back up. Following suit I stood next to the end.

It was just another boring dialogue speech as I stood at the end without moving. I didn't really have the energy to pay attention so I just opened my system up.

[oii, arnt you forgetting something? Like a couple of functions I gave you a week ago?]

'Eh? No I don't'

[….. I regret picking you sometimes]
