Chapter 4:Five Years After

The central city which is now named Crystal city, after changing its name after the Apex attacked the center city five years ago, and the battle that shook the world was a battle between the monster known as Apex and the Crystal goddess that came out of the beacon of light that was coming out of the crystal pillar had happened.

The battle was intense almost destroying the entirety of Central city with the fighting almost lasting one whole day but thankfully all hope and prayers of all the people watching the fight weren't in vain although the crystal goddess wasn't able to eliminate Apex for good, she sealed Apex encasing him in crystal thus ending the fight that almost endangered the world.

During the first appearance of the pillar of crystal although humanity was saved a majority of the remaining humans were skeptical about the existence of the crystal while still using the gift they were given back then freely.

five years ago after the disastrous clash with Apex, the crystal goddess went back to the pillar of crystal resting in the heart of the city, but after returning to her dormant state the majority of humans that were skeptical about the crystal goddess's existence have known become devout followers of the crystal goddess even creating a church with the sole purpose of serving the crystal goddess.

Along with the good news which is the sealing of Apex, comes a piece of bad news almost all of the elite members of the Central light guild were eliminated along with their guild leader at the hands of Apex except for the vice guild leader who is now the current leader of the Light guild which now located at the metro city which is a neighboring city very close to crystal city.

Weakened due to the loss of manpower that the light guild have provided five years ago, numerous rifts were left uncheck leaving monsters to freely leave the rifts and invade the world, but as time passes by humanity began to adapt with numerous other guilds started being formed with the top 10 strongest guild being called the ten beacon of humanity.

Together with the new guild leader who now uses a rapier instead of a bow other members that played as support during the battle have survived, the light guild is now said to making a comeback from being at the rank 11 due to their major losses five years ago to placing rank 5 in the guild rankings.

"Kite! Theo! Teresa!" Lucy shouted as she wave his hands toward the three friends of her back in the orphanage.

"I miss you, Teresa," Lucy said rushing as she jumped and hug Teresa who was in the middle of Theo and Kite, behind Lucy, Lucas was slowly walking while waving his hands at the three.

"Miss you guys, just as we graduated you guys are finally entering the player academy," Lucas said smiling at their reunion.

"What guild are you planning to join?" Kite asked wondering what's their plan now that they graduated from the player academy.

"I got an offer from the rank 19 Saintwood guild, I like the benefits that their offering but I think I'll join Phil guild, it's still not rank but I think it would be better for me to join Phil," Lucas said.

"I got an offer from the rank 9 guilds Rakshasa, but I'm still considering Phil Fireflies guild," Lucy said while still embracing Teresa in her arm.

"I'm still shocked, I heard both Phil and Jonathan received an offer from the Silver wolf which is the rank 6 guild yet Phil decided to still form his very own guild," said Theo.

"Lucy you need to let go now, we still need to attend the ceremony now" Said Teresa escaping from Lucy's embrace.

The five of them finally separated ways as the three Kite, Theo, and Teresa finally started to head to the Player's Academy ceremony. While Lucas and Lucy left the academy to think about the offers they received.

Arriving at the Player's Academy ceremony Kite with Theo and Teresa finally sat as the Academy principal who is currently climbing up the stage to give a speech to the students.

"My name is Charles Campbell I am the principal of this academy, most of you must be excited to learn that now that you all are 16 you have finally unlocked the gift that was given to all of you by the crystal goddess, the crystal rune which is in everyone's wrist which we now call the crystal goddess system," said Charles as he took a deep breath.

"And now that unlocking the system you must be asking why must you still attend this academy, well let me remind everyone as five years ago when numerous guilds were created it was not without casualties. Numerous death accompanied the success of humanity and so in your two years' stay at the academy we will ingrain everything you need to know to have a higher chance of survival in this line of work" Charles said bowing as the audience were speechless at the principal grim speech.

Climbing down the stage Charles Campbell sat down as a new person stood up to give a speech to everyone, everyone looked as they saw a woman with one arm standing up and heading straight into the stage.

Everyone knows who this was, it was the leader of the light guild the most powerful bow user of the past who is now a renowned swordsman with a rapier as her weapon.

The leader of the light guild stood straight onto the platform showing pride as the scar on his left side can be seen making a lot of the students in the ceremony leave their mouths open in awe.

"I'm guessing most of you know me, I am Cassandra the leader of the light guild and you might think these two years in the academy will be useless and will have no help in you in the future but rest assured everything you will learn here will help you become a renowned Player that will have their name is known throughout the world," Cassandra said as she unsheathes her rapier that is now being enveloped in light and slash it toward the sky creating an arc similar to the previous leader skill but more refined and beautiful.

As the light reach the sky it began to dissipate leaving a rain of light that descended on all the students in the ceremony, Cassandra departed the stage while all the students were looking at the rain of light and sat back to where she was sitting.

"was that necessary Cassandra?" Charles said who was sitting next to her.

"I'm bad at giving a speech so I have to express my showmanship to balance things out," Cassandra said as she smiled at Charles.

After the ceremony lasted for another 30 minutes multiple professors and guests stood up on the stage giving speeches, the ceremony was finally over and all the students started heading to the dormitories trying to find the rooms they were assigned in.

"what do you think of the ceremony Kite?" Theo said as they were walking in the corridors trying to find their room.

"It wasn't that interesting but I did get curious at the Leader of light guild skill, I heard she was an archer yet she was able to proficient in the rapier in just 5 years, room 302 this our room Theo," Kite said pointing at the room they were supposed to stay.

"Well from what I have heard from the internet Cassandra was personally being taught by the previous guild leader, it was just that Cassandra was comfortable at using the bow that's why she didn't showcase her skill 5years ago, she probably already good back then and just trained for 5 years yet again to get used to her missing left arm," Theo said as the two of them opened the door and settled themselves inside.

Setting his luggage down, a weird firefly began to appear that came out from Kite's luggage.

"You brought flicker? I thought you left him at the orphanage" Theo said grabbing the flicker which was the weird-looking firefly and started rubbing it like a lamp.

Theo rubbed flicker, its body began to shine in brilliant flickering light that covered their room.

Seeing Theo and flicker playing, Kite toss a shirt that covered Flicker and the light he was emitting.

"stopped that before flicker shoots a fireball through the walls," Kite said while looking at his system.

During the five years, everyone at the orphanage with the goal of being a player began to strengthen their body raising their stat by a reasonable amount with others like Theo having 5 to 7 in their basic stat while Kite having a slightly higher stat due to the events that happened in the mountains.

Kite immediately copied the average stats of level 1 players and input them into the white system which was a façade to hide his original stats that were higher than normal players that were enrolled in the academy.

Five years ago with Kite's system being unlocked before turning 16, he was planning on hunting as soon as possible but all plans were ruined as the rise of numerous guilds made it impossible to attack monsters in stealth due to the increasing number of players that started hunting monsters.

However now that he turned 16 and became part of the academy, he will now have more freedom to strengthen himself without revealing his secrets.
