Mr. Petrov's face held a troubled scowl as he made his way to the second floor of the mansion. Behind him, Mikhail was following.
"Where is Adeline? I told you I wanted to have a word with her." Mr. Petrov entered his office.
Mikhail responded, "She is not around right now."
"What?" Mr. Petrov quickly came to a stop and turned around to look at him. "Gone to where?" he asked irately.
Mikhail bowed his head, nervous at the tone he was using. "I'm not exactly sure..."
"What do you mean?" Mr. Petrov questioned, stepping closer to him.
"Sir Dimitri said she was out. T-that is all I know." Mikhail straightened up, tensing.
Mr. Petrov went quiet, his gaze darting around the office as though he were trying to process something.
"Mikhail." He shifted his attention to him, snatching him by the collar of his shirt. "Are you stupid? Are you out of your mind?"
"You are aware of the situation with her, and you didn't think of letting me know of this since? How many hours has it been now?"
"One hou-"
A punch so hard it tore his lips landed on Mikhail's face, causing him to stagger back, his vision blurry for a second.
"Send out two men to track her phone and trace her location. Find out who she is with and report it to me at once. I don't want any delay, understand?!" Mr. Petrov was burning in anger and anxiousness.
He'd never allowed Adeline out of the mansion without supervision. Who knew what she could be doing? Who she was with? Not to mention the USB file that was still in her hold.
She had to be under his watch every second. He wouldn't take any risk untill he got that file from her.
Mikhail nodded and hurriedly left the office.
________
Sokolov pulled up in front of the restaurant with the name 'Mishel' and stepped down, rushing over to the backseat to open the door.
Adeline got out of the car and turned around to stare at the huge white-painted restaurant before her.
The lit chandelier she could glimpse through the window was vibrant, and above the massive building was a well-crafted signboard holding the name of the restaurant.
From a bit of distance where Sokolov parked, was a black, brand new-looking Bentley and beside the car stood a man who she couldn't exactly determine due to the darkness.
"I'll drive further down there and park, Mrs. Adeline. We are in the way." Sokolov pointed at the empty parking spot beside the Bentley.
Adeline nodded with a light smile and began to approach the building. She opened the glass door, entered inside, and immediately came to a halt after taking three steps.
The entire restaurant was empty, so much so that she'd assumed she was at the wrong place for a split second.
Her brows crumpled in confusion, and she shifted her gaze to the center of the room, where a fine round table was situated with two chairs opposite each other.
On one of the chairs sat a figure—a large figure that she had somehow retained in her memory.
He really came! A soft breath of relief and nervousness fled her mouth and she quickly adjusted her dress.
Adeline put on a smile and began to walk towards the table, her hips swaying from left to right. The sound of her heels was well heard.
Because the man sitting at the table had uncrossed his legs and stood up, turning around to watch her approach him.
He was indeed, Caesar.
In his eyes, time seemed to suddenly slow down, because from head to toe, he'd scrutinized her, taking in every inch of her figure.
She looked too good that he couldn't help but wonder if she'd purposely done herself in such a way with the knowledge that he would daze in awe of her.
Her face held not too much makeup, but her red lipstick was the first thing that really caught his attention. He couldn't tell what it was about it, but it was attractive!
He liked it.
His gaze diverted to her bouncy, silky-long hair that fell all the way to her bottom and shifted to the red dress she wore. It'd perfectly hugged her body as though it was made just for her, excellently showing off her curves.
Back to her honey-brown eyes. The way the bright light of the chandelier above the ceiling burned in her pupils was mesmerizing and stunning.
It was very pretty.
"You're staring too much." Adeline laughed softly as she stood in front of him. The slight blush that had graced her cheeks could be seen.
Her voice, like velvet, had snapped him out of his trance and a beat passed. Her words sunk in, his eyes watching her with keen intensity, savoring every sight of her.
"You're beautiful," he hummed, eyes crinkling along with his smile.
Adeline's pupils widened a bit.
Beautiful? Really? Even with the band-aid and slightly visible cut she still had on her face?
Was he simply just being a gentleman?
She took in his appearance, her gaze softening subconsciously.
He was in a suit, this time ash gray, perfectly adoring his manly, muscled body. On top of it, he wore a trench coat with a furred neck and a pair of black gloves, covering his large hands.
His shoulder-length hair fell in perfect gentle waves, a few strands falling over his face and complimenting his green eyes.
He was hot.
She didn't really pay much attention to his appearance untill now. And she could say the word 'devishily handsome' was much suitable for him.
"Thank you," she said.
"For?" Caesar raised a brow, pulling out his chair to sit down.
Adeline offered a charming smile. "For coming." She sat down and crossed her legs.
Caesar didn't give a response to her words which cause a momentary silence to fall between them. But Adeline was quick to break it.
"What happened? Why are we the only ones here?" she asked in confusion and a tad bit of curiosity.
Caesar responded, "I rented the entire place out."
"Just for tonight?" Adeline probed quietly, the look in her gaze hinting at her skepticism.
"Just for tonight," Caesar repeated her words, confirming.
He snapped his fingers, and shortly after that, chefs in white aprons approached with a food trolley filled with different sets of mouth-watering delicacies.
As they set them on the table, Adeline lifted her eyes to meet his green ones. "Are these all necessary?"
"Would you like to talk on an empty stomach?" Caesar asked, crossing his legs. "We are at a restaurant for a reason."
He pulled his phone out of his pocket and wiggled his fingers, dismissing the chefs. "I saw Dimitri last night at the underground cave."
Adeline raised a brow, tilting her head, perplexed. "Underground…what?"
"Underground cave." Caesar began to swipe, browsing through his phone. "It is a type of club mostly meant for secretive business between dealers. He didn't come for business but for rather...something different much to my surprise."
Adeline could already tell why Dimitri was at the underground cave. She rolled her eyes, irritated. "We are in an open marriage, so he does whatever he wants."
"And you are okay with that?" Caesar appeared surprised.
