"No. I know you won't let him off the hook." Adeline shook her head, cupping his cheek to press her forehead against his. "But you don't have to do anything right now, Caesar."
"Meaning?" Caesar frowned at her. "He-"
"Slow and steady, did you forget?" she asked with gentle eyes.
Caesar was immediately conflicted and his frown worsened. "Adeline, I know that. But-"
"Caesar." Adeline kissed his lips briefly. "I know you wish to kill him, but that would be giving him the easy way out, wouldn't it? That is not what I want." She shook her head. "I need us to make him suffer in the most agonizing way possible. It'll be fun, you know, just like it was then."
"You'll get to have your fun with him, but let's break him first, slowly and painfully." Her smile stretched so wide that a bright glint flickered in Caesar's pupils at the sight of it.
