The Best Day

When Selena went downstairs, she found Evan talking to Barney. The man has his blue uniform on and a pen and a paper in his hand. Barney was so focused on her uncle that he didn't notice her presence.

"Hi Barney," she greeted naturally and sat on the single sofa opposite to him.

Hearing a familiar voice, Barney turned at the source and found Selena with bags around her eyes, it was as if she didn't have a good night sleep.

"Are you ok?" he got up and went closer to her. He stood in front of Selena with worried expression across his face.

"Yes, so did you caught that maniac?"

Barney nodded and handed her a photo he took at the police station.

Selena lowered her sight on the picture and sighed, it was indeed the man from yesterday though, his face was badly injured from beating.

"What happened to him?" she asked, wondering if the man tried to assault another woman and ended up getting hurt.

"No, after we caught him. He said that you and your companion beat him up and all he wanted to do was to ask for a direction," Selena was shock by Barney's words. She was not expecting that the pervert man will blame them. She didn't touch the man though he received a punch from her savior.

"That is not true. He chased me and showed me his naked body. I mean I won't mind it if he had abs but his belly was bloated, its probably full of fats and beer," as she remembered his disgusting body and how hairy it was, her body shivered by the thought.

"Mr.Su told me that the man already left. Can you contact him? We need his statement so you won't need to go to prison."

Shock by his words, Selena got up from her chair, both eyes were widened in confusion.

"Hey Barney, I don't know if you guys are pulling a prank on me or what but, this is serious. The man who saved me has left, I don't know his name or number and I definitely don't want to be in prison. Gosh! Have you watched the Orange is the new black? They sleep on a thin mattress, and their food was like something that came out of bull's ass and!"

All her whining stayed in her mouth when she felt Barney's firm arms around her, his hand went to her head, stroking it gently.

"I won't let it happen to you," he murmured into her ears.

Selena's body went stiff, her mind exploded by Barney's sudden action.

She momentarily shut her eyes and took a deep sigh, she patted his back twice, indicating that she's alright.

"Thank you, It's nice to know that you believe in me," Barney pulled his arms from her and then sat back next to Evan.

When Selena looked at her uncle, wondering if he was also shocked by Barney's action, her uncle didn't show any reaction. His eyes were on the television, watching the news.

'A new drug is currently spreading in the Island. This drug is hitting the teenager going to bars, and some people are using it to take advantage of another person,'

The news anchor said in the television. Selena turned to Barney and found his serious face kind of familiar. When she looked back at her uncle, she then realized that they have the same expression when they are serious, eyes narrowed, brows creased so deeply and lips pressed together.

"What shall I do to clear my name? The man who helped me is gone and I don't have any evidence of what he did," stress made her shoulder to slumped. She suddenly feels depressed by her situation.

Meanwhile, Barney pitied Selena. If the pervert man didn't have any bruises, he would have beaten him up himself but unfortunately, when they caught him, the man reported that Selena and her companion beat him up after a small misunderstanding.

Now, the man is in the hospital, getting his wound treated.

After seeing how Selena reacted by his words, he could not help but to embrace her, he wanted her to know that she's his friend and will do everything to protect her.

"I want to see him," Selena said.

"He's in the hospital. I can bring you there."

Selena nodded and plastered a grateful smile.

"Thank you for your help,"

"You're my friend Selena, and don't worry I am getting paid by doing this," he jokingly chuckled.

Selena mirrored his smile and walks upstairs. Before leaving, she turned to face Barney once again.

"I have a request. I will tell you on the way."

Barney nodded as a response and watched the news as he waited for Selena to come back.

As soon as Selena reached the third floor, she found Alexa squatting on the floor with her head peeping at the guest.

Selena pokes her head with a finger and when the girl looked at her, there was a malicious smile on her lips.

"Ei... I know something is going on between you two. I saw how you two talked in the market. Ei... so, how was it? How's the hug? Tell me!" Alexa excitedly got up and held her arms, squeezing it slightly, Selena realized that Alexa must have misunderstood the situation.

"Nothing is going on between us. We are friends and he's helping me not to be in prison," she nonchalantly replied.

As she walks back to her room, Alexa tailed her.

"Come on, stop pretending. I saw it. I saw it!" the girl closed the door behind her and started dancing around.

"Stop it, Alexa. Barney is my friend. FRIEND, do I need to spell it out to you?" she rolled her eyes on her, showing how annoying she is.

Alexa sat on the bed with her legs crossed.

"oh gosh! This is so romantic! If you two end up together. The theme song should be ahm..."

For a moment, Alexa became silence

"Oh!"

Then the girl's lips spread in a smile and began humming.

"I love you, you love me. We are happy-" Alexa's singing was disrupted when Selena abruptly dived onto her body and slapped a pillow on her face, shutting her up.
