Chapter 7 - Splitting Up

George asked us a nonsensical question, so I squinting my eyes to make sure and after seeing the human shaped mummies dangling in the air.

"THE HELL!" I yelled by accident

Jason quickly covered my mouth with his hand before dragging both George and I away from the square.

We entered an empty store that was some distance away from the square, after making sure we were safe he let go while sighing in relief.

"We're you trying to get us killed?!" Jason exclaimed in exasperation

"Sor-" Jason cut me off

"Sorry, won't cut it! If whatever 'thing' that captured all those people heard you then, we'd be fucked!" Jason said, fear written on his usually confident face.

I couldn't respond. I knew he was right and it pissed me off.

"Calm down Jason, he didn't do it on purpose" George defended me.

"Whether it was on purpose or a bloody accident it won't matter if we die because of it!" Jason argued

George was about to say something else, when I spoke

"He's right. I'm sorry, it won't happen again"

George gave me an apologizing look, while Jason seemed to have calmed down a bit as he looked at my guilt ridden expression.

"Hey, I shouldn't have blown up on y-" Jason tried apologizing, which surprised me a bit.

"Nah, don't worry about it. I would've done the same if I were you" I stopped him from apologizing, it felt repulsive hearing it from him.

George spoke up after that. "What should we do now?"

"This town is no longer safe, we have to leave as soon as possible" Jason answered

"We should hot wire a car" I said, asking Jason if he knew how to.

"Yeah. I should be able to do that, my dad always liked teaching me everything he knew about cars." Jason responded

"We need a map to get out of the town as well" Jason said after contemplating

"I should be able to get one from the tour shop" I said

This town was known for their delicious berry's and wine. So, this town was a magnet for tourists.

"Let's split up so we can quickly leave this place" I said after thinking about it

"What?! No, no! Have you seen any horror movies where splitting up is a good idea?!" George exclaimed

"Besides hot wiring a car shouldn't take too much time right?" George asked

"Normally, no. But since it's been a while since I've hot wired a car, and I also don't have the keys to any of the vehicles here. I'll have to be extra careful when doing this." Jason explained

George sucked in a cold breath, before saying

"Then we'll wait for you-"

"I'll be quick. And George, you should stay with your brother, protecting him while he's hot wiring since he'll be vulnerable while doing it." I cut George off

"That's extremely dangerous, Mark!"

"I know, but I have to if we want to leave this place as quickly as possible"

George stayed quiet after hearing my reasoning.

"Relax, if I feel that I'm in danger I'll run away" I consoled him

"Hagh, alright I'll protect Jason. But you better stay alive, it'll be boring if I have to survive this invasion with this narcissistic fuck"

"Haha, alright"

After parting with George and Jason, I sneakily entered the square. Where I assume the Tour booth to be in.

I quickly located it, it was a small building no bigger than a car.

After sneaking inside, I opened cabinets after cabinets until I found a map of the town. It was pretty large in comparison to my own. After folding it and placing it inside my unused pants pocket. I quickly walked to the exit.

Before I left I saw a lighter and air freshener. I thought they could be useful if I ever came face to face with the unseen arachnid.
