Chapter 6 - Halloween Decorations

Coming out of the worms "mouth", I see George collecting and forming a pyramid of sticks to start a fire.

Jason was busy "supervising" making sure George didn't grab a snake by accident.

"What's that?" Asked Jason when I walked closer to them

"I don't know, the worm had it inside" I responded

"You actually went inside? You could of died you know?" Jason said, though he didn't seem worried about me

"I would've left immediately, if I felt that I was in danger"

"Argh! How do they make it look so easy on T.V.?"

George said in frustration after being unable to light it

"They usually use matches when the camera isn't recording" Jason replied

After eating our canned dinner, we decided to start our walk to the next town tomorrow in the morning.

Once the sun shone through the clouds, we quickly dispersed our 'matched' fire and started walking to the nearby town. Since our ride was destroyed, the original 40 minutes turned into an extremely long 2 hours.

"Welcome To Hedyotis Town" I read the welcoming sign post.

"What a shitty name" George commented

"Props for trying to be original" I argued although I have no idea why I was defending its name.

We started walked towards the inside of the town. Which seemed surprisingly untouched... I thought the people living here would start a stampede trying to escape this town once the aliens became known.

"It's quiet." Jason muttered

The town seemed to have been abandoned, the only ones here seemingly to be us. But there were also a lot of cars parked down on the empty roads having not been moved at all.

It was hard to believe everyone just decided to run on foot. So it's very possible something happened to everyone here.

"Could the people living here still be inside the town somewhere?" George pondered

"It's possible" I responded

"Hey, over here" Jason called out to us after walking away from us.

He was inside a small shoe store, I thought he just wanted show us some shoes he thought were cool.

"What the..." I said in shock

Webs. Well it seemed more like wide strings of silk was spread everywhere. They were big and long, almost rubbery like.

I thought 'Maybe it's just some Halloween decorations'

"You think it's from an Alien spider?" Jason asked

"I hope not." I replied. Although at the time I probably had a feeling it was.

"Let's follow where it goes" George enthusiastically said

"Let's not" I immediately rejected his idiotic idea.

"Don't be so quick to reject, who knows maybe they don't lead anywhere" Jason said

And so they followed the trail, leaving me behind. I sighed for a bit before ultimately following them.

The web trail ended once we stepped outside the store. But it seemed to pick up on the building next door.

"What are the chances that this town celebrates Halloween early?" I asked

"Almost none" Jason replied before looking back at me

"Do you perhaps harbor a fear of arachnids?" Jason asked feigning concern

"Shut up! If it were a tiny spider I wouldn't care, but..." I shuddered

'If a spider actually produced all that silk, then wouldn't it size be similar to that of an entire building?' I surmised

"Hm, let's just hope that these webs are just early Halloween decorations that the towns folk decided to put up." Jason ended our conversation

"Hey, guys..." George called out to us from the corner of the street

When we got to where he was standing, we inadvertently saw what he probably wanted to us to see.

The town plaza or square was covered in these wide silks. And with the silk having a certain width it looked a lot like someone threw rolls of of toilet paper all over the square.

"Is that people?" George asked us while we were staring at the festive vandalism.

Hagh, I'll try to write another chapter sometime today. No promises though. Thank you for Reading!
