"10 years ago, huh?" Kai said to himself. A lizardman seemed to of heard him, because they replied to what he had just said.

"Yes, since the lizardman mage died the barrier has since gotten weaker." He looked to the sky like he was trying to recall something. "We expect it to last for 3 more months."

The crowds faces were very grim from that comment.

Kai thought he could maybe come up with a way to make his own barrier eventually. That would for sure build more trust. After this speech he wanted to see if he could get another ability.

"Don't worry about that problem." Kai announced to the croud. "I will somehow set up a new barrier for you guys eventually."

There was a mutter in the croud. It was a bit akward for Kai. It was probably pretty hard to believe for the lizardman. They probably viewed that mage lizardman as some kind of really high ranking being.

"Anyways," Kai said. "I will dismiss everyone. Get a good night's sleep, because tomorrow I'm going to go check on the agriculture fields. I need some lizardman to come with me on that. The rest will continue repairs."

Kai turned around and headed back to Karla. The other lizardman just found a comfy place to sleep, including the mothers. The lizardman that had houses still standing left to get a good night's sleep.

"What's up," Karla asked.

Kai waved his hand. "Nothing much."

The biggest building in the village was the one near the plaza/courtyard that Kai was put up for execution. He was pissed he absolutely destroyed it. He had to resort to sleeping in the metal building.

"I'm going to sleep in the metal building," Kai informed Karla.

"Ya know, there is a ton of space in there, how about you invite some of the mothers with children to sleep in there sheltered?"

Kai gritted his teeth in surprise with wide eyes. He wanted to avoid this as much as possible. The constant scuffling of sleepless and crazy children was going to drive him crazy. But it made sense.

"F-fine." Kai replied. He went to one of the lizardman mothers and told her to call all the other mothers that want to sleep in shelter.

About 25 of them followed Kai to the building.

When he got there, Kai settled on some hay. The 25 mothers with around 40 kids all hastily laid down and fell asleep.

It wasn't as much of a hassle as Kai had previously thought.

Kai closed his eyes and fell asleep, with the moonlight softly shining on his face through the slightly opened door.

Kai woke up and yawned. He seemed to have woken up early, because the sun was just barely starting to rise, and all the other lizardman were asleep. Karla was sleeping too in a weird shelf area that fit her size.

Kai walked out of the building.

Many of the lizardman were sleeping, but some were up. It looked to Kai that they were waiting for him to go check out the agriculture fields together. It showed loyalty, so that was nice for him.

"Good morning sir." They all chimed in. Kai counted 20 of them. They were all pretty similar in appearance, with muscular green scaly bodies. The only thing that was different between all them were the tribe clothes, with were different colors and styles.

"Yeah whats up, we ready to go check on the fields?" He asked.

"Of course. We'll guide you over," one lizardman said. "Follow us."

The town slowly faded from signs of civilization to wilderness. Kai had no clue how they knew which way to go.

They soon arrived at a more visible path, that led to a huge opening. There were the fields. Crops and livestock. The livestock seemed to be some kind of cow creature. They were a lot more burly than cows, and their fur was a more brown color. They had 2 large black horns and 4 eyes.

One of the lizardman came up to him and presented the scene. "Here is the root of our city."

"Awesome," Kai said. "But why is it so far from the village?"

"Enemy tribes. If they find your food source, then you are screwed. The barrier is just an extra measure so they don't find the village in the first place."

"I see," Kai said. He pointed at the field of various fruits and vegtables. "So what are the crops then?"
