Chance Encounter

Coming outside, his eyes fell on the police car standing there. He looked around and there was no one inside. He tried to open the gate and surprisingly, it opened. He felt a little happy when he saw the keys attached in the car. He quickly got in and started the engine. Just as he was about to turn it around, his eyes fell on the fuel meter and noticed that it was almost empty. He suddenly remembered that he had seen a Jerry can inside the house. He quickly got in and found two cans in one of the kitchen shelves, came out and filled the tank a little, and put the rest in the back.

He drove the car back to the van afraid if it had been looted. To his luck, when he reached there, he was relieved that it was as he had left. He came out of the car to fill the fuel in the van but suddenly stopped as a static sound came from the car's radio. He quickly grabbed the radio and heard some gibberish voices. "Hello, Hello, is someone there?", he asked in the radio. "Oh someone responded", the voice of a girl came from other side. "Hello, where are you? Are you the same guy who talked before in the morning?", the girl on the other side of the radio asked. "No, I found the car near a house and was driving by when I heard the static and responded", Wolfe spoke honestly. "Hello, hello. Is the person still on the air? This is Officer Shane Walsh broadcasting to person unknown. Please respond", a man said this time.

"This is Damian Wolfe, copy".

"Walsh, copy, where are you talking from? over", he asked.

" Wolfe, Copy. I am currently in the highway 85 and plan to go to atlanta. Where are you? Over", he asked the person unknown.

The radio went static for a while until a girl spoke, "We are outside the cit-", again it got cut off. "Walsh here, copy. Wolfe, Atlanta is filled with the infected. Don't go. I repeat. Don't go". The man said and the radio went shut.

Clearly, Damian could feel that the man didn't want to disclose their location but still thanked him for the warning.

He thought about what he should do now.The man in the raidio told him that the city is filled with walkers, so he couldn't just walk down there alone without any knowledge about the city routes. Thinking about it, he took out the jerry can and started filling the tank in the van. Suddenly, he heard a loud car horn and saw someone in a red car approaching him quickly. He quickly got to the side of the road and saw a dodge challenger drive past him in full speed. "Crazy Bastard", he said and started filling the tank again. Just as he finished and closed the hole and put the can back inside, he heard another vehicle coming from the same side as the last. "What's the matter with people today, they keep coming and coming", this was unusual for him who had not seen people on the road in a while. An RV soon came to his sight, slowed down and stopped just beside him.

There, a man in police uniform looked at him. "You alone friend?", he asked. Wolfe prepared his gun, ready to shoot anytime and just looked at the man without saying anything. The man raised a hand and said, "I'm Rick Grimes. I was a deputy for King County' Sheriff's Department".

"Damian Wolfe", Wolfe replied.

"Who is it?", a sound came from the back and some people's face came into view. "He was on the road so I stopped to ask if he needed any help", Rick replied.

"You guys coming from Atlanta? Someone just warned me to not go there", Wolfe looked at the man and asked.

"That's right. Roads are filled with walkers", Rick replied, and Wolfe said 'oh', and nodded.

"Officer friendly, can we go?", a woman said from the back. "Wait a minute- hey, that's my car. You brought it here?", Rick was telling the woman to wait but he saw his car on the side and asked Damian.

"Yes, this one had no gas either, so I walked ahead to search for some. I found the car in the road and found the gas in a house nearby. The person in the radio warned me about Atlanta", Damian answered honestly.

"Why don't you come join our camp?", a black woman appeared inside the RV and asked Damian. "Hey, we don't even know him", the man sitting in the side seat of Rick told the black woman. "We too didn't know each other before. It's dangerous out here being alone. We should stay together", she looked at the man and then at Damian, waiting for a response. "What do you say?", Rick asked looking at him. "I would be grateful if you take me with you. I would love to see more people", Damian said thinking how tough it had been for him to stay alone.

"Guys, what do you say?", the man in the side asked others while looking at Damian cautiously. "Well, we have more than enough space to spare, so I don't mind", a black man said. "I don't care if he comes or not but can we hurry up?", another woman said.

"It's devided then. Hey, T-Dog, you drive the police car", the cautious said to the black man who unexcitedly got out. Damian threw the keys towards him and sat back in the van and followed behind the RV.
