Slowly, I came back to my senses and said, "We're friends, I don't think there's much that I can feel about her." Then I felt like I should add, "But I'll always make sure to protect her since she's a childhood friend."

Veronica's parents looked at me like they couldn't figure out if I was being serious or not.

I just looked at them with a calm look on my face, not being fazed by the way that they looked at me.

In the end, both of them gave sighs and shook their heads.

I could guess what they were thinking, but I stood firm on this.

I didn't want another mess up like I had done with Kyoko's family…

After a long silence, Veronica's father said, "Alright, regardless of how you feel, I hope that you will treat my daughter well."

As soon as his voice fell, he narrowed his eyes and then added, "Or else I don't need to tell you what I'll do to you, right?"
