Chapter 8 : Ambush

After giving three hours of lessons James left the classroom and went to the teachers' room.

The room was empty at that time of the day but he didn't mind, he tried to remember the location of Mito's office which he found easily and searched his things thoroughly, he didn't find anything peculiar or strange, but when he wanted to stop he found a bloody business card, exactly the same as the one he had found at Fuki's house.

He looked at the card for a moment before putting it back in its place.

But then the door of the teacher's office opened and a fat middle-aged man with a bald head wearing glasses and a maroon suit entered.

"Mr. James, hello."

James then walked away from Mito's office and approached him with a smile.

"Hello, Mr. Okada."

He was the headmaster of Okada Fukasaku School.

After a brief discussion with him, James took his things and left the highschool.

On the way, he thought carefully about the next action, but his biggest concern right now was money, but he also had to find a way to hunt more monsters like Fuki and above all to advance in the game's storyline.

He finally arrived home, closed the door and began to play with his new ability to the point of exhaustion.

Then he went out to eat and returned home in the evening, but as he was about to take a bath, he suddenly stopped.

His eyes fell on a drop of purple liquid that had just fallen from the ceiling.

Then he suddenly retreated backwards at the same time a bodyless monster with only a floating head opened its gaping mouth and tried to swallow him.

The monster was semi-transparent, its head was gigantic going up to 187cm, its teeth sharpened like knives with a purple mist oozing from its mouth.

"What the hell!" he thought, but the next moment, the beast rushed at him again.

He quickly regained his wits, then with a slight thought, his aura violently escaped from his body, he then took the kitchen knife that was close to him and threw it towards the eye of the monster.

But surprisingly the knife went through the monster, as if it didn't exist, the monster itself was now a foot away from him.

But thanks to his reflexes, James without even thinking about it, punched the monster and at the same time used his new ability.

*Bang*

The flaming fist of James and the monster collided, although the punch did not seem to have caused any serious damage to the monster, but the flames around James' fist began to engulf the monster.

The monster screaming in pain began to roar as it rolled around the room before it was reduced to ashes.

"What's that noise?"

"It sounds like a wild beast!"

"Hey neighbor, turn down the volume..."

James, hearing the complaints of his neighbors in the hallway, ignored them and hurried to the exit door.

*creak*

But as he walked past the window near the door, he felt a sharp pain at his head and then his view darkened.

His body then fell to the ground lifeless.

In the dark space, James was floating while looking at his interface with a thinking eye.

"I sucess to defeat the monster but I was ambushed a second time, before I died, I heard the window break, I must have fallen victim to a sniper, or a monster that could attack from a distance."

He thinks a few more seconds before he push the button *load* and *slot2*

Then he came back in the morning, he had gotten to used *slot1* for important events, like Fuki's death and he always saved the beginning of each day on *slot2*, to avoid accidents while avoiding wasting time.

He took a deep breath, then his gaze released a certain coldness.

"I left school at 12:18, went home around 12:43, then I tested my ability until 2:00, went out to eat, walked around the city for a while and then came back around 5:24."

He or they probably ambushed me between 2:00 and 5:00, so to surprise them I have to attack first, because they certainly don't know I'm waiting for them."

He then looked out the window near his door and analyzed the best option for a shooter.

"Although I don't know much about assassination skills, a shooter, or rather an assassin like a marksman, must consider a place that allows him to both accomplish his task and escape quickly. "

"The first building in front of me is too small for the shooter to get to my head, the two buildings across the street are perfect but the first one is owned by a company and is full of cameras the ideal would be the second one next door, it's a fairly old residential building with no high performance security cameras and fire escapes perfect for quick escape."

After a short while he got dressed and left his apartment and go to school.

"You want to play, well, be prepared to die."
