Part 8

Josh's POV

I held Justen in my arms until the sun started to set. The colors made everything look so beautiful and the sparkling water below us went from a bright blue to a dark grey. It was so calming and I guess Justen thought it was calming too for he didn't say a word.

After the sun fully set, the sky was dark and I found myself looking up at the stars. Justen shifted in my arms and I let him go. He then grabbed my arm and laid down. I smiled at him and laid down next to him.

"You see that one?" Justen asked, pointing up at the Big Dipper. "It's one of my favorites. It also reminds me of my big sister."

"Well do you see that one?" I asked, pointing at the Little Dipper. "It reminds me of my younger brother."

Justen smiled at me. "I like being able to look at the stars and talk to someone about them," he said.

"I do too," I said, continuing to look at the sky.

"Wait, what time is it?!" Justen asked, suddenly sitting up.

"Almost eight, why?" I asked.

"I have to get home," Justen said.

"Why?" I asked.

"I might hate my dad but if I'm not at home at a certain time, he'll already be done with his trade," Justen said.

"You mean for his...?" I asked, not wanting to say the word.

"Yeah," Justen said.

"I can give you a ride if you want me to," I offered. "I mean it's late and I don't think you'll be able to see very well in the dark without a light."

"Really?" Justen asked. "Like, you're being serious?"

"Yeah, of course," I said.

"Yes, please," Justen said.

"Alright, let's go then," I said.

Justen nodded before he got up and held out his hand to help me up too.

Once we were both standing, Justen and I walked to my truck and loaded his bike into the back.

"After you," I said, letting Justen get in the passenger side.

Justen got into the truck without a word and I got in as well. I started the truck and began to drive.

"Where do you live?" I asked.

"I'll just give you directions," Justen said. "Turn right at the next intersection."

I followed Justen's directions until I arrived at an old, beat down house.

"This is your place?" I asked.

"Yup," Justen said, opening the passenger seat door. "Thanks for the ride. I'll get my bike."

"Okay, I'll see you tomorrow then," I said.

"See you tomorrow," Justen said with a small smile before he shut the door and went around to get his bike.

Once I saw that he had his bike and was in front of my truck, I backed out of his driveway only to see another car pull in. I looked at it confused until I remembered Justen talking about his dad's trade. Figuring he'd be mad at me for getting into his and his dad's business, I drove back to my house.
