Ch.6 Road to Almarion (Part 2: The long night)

Soon after the disturbance with the five adventurers was over, I and Mika went to [My world] to check on the girls there.

"So how are you faring so far?"

"We were training for the most part, but we took our time to eat as well," Ricca said with happy smile.

"Sir Aku helped us a lot," Shiro patted her stomach as she was lying on ground.

"Do you... have something in mind... to do master?" Tama walked slowly to my side.

"Yeah, I want to build a forge and smelting furnace here. Do you want to help?"

"Can we?" Tama looked up with curious look.

"Sure you can. I have some heat resistant bricks I bought from the people living in the fort," I smiled at Tama and patted her head. While I'm still only nineteen years old, Tama and Shiro are both fifteen. Ricca is from what I overheard eighteen which makes her the oldest of my slaves.

I took out bricks from my Item box and started preparing everything I needed to build forge. We started with table part where the coal and heating devices would be placed.

"Oh, and before I forgot. Tomorrow we will go to another fort that have a small village near it. It's said that we can buy a lot of items there so I thought we could buy some provisions for this place."

"Provisions?"

"I mean, look around. Anything you see around you is flat land with a lot of green right?"

"Yeah, so?" Mika asked as she wiped sweat from her forehead.

"What if we started a farm here? Would it grow? If yes, would it be faster or slower? The temperature doesn't seem to fluctuate here."

"Now that you mention it... you are right, the temperature doesn't change that much. Two or three degrees at most," Ricca spoke up.

"So, what would happen if we planted let's say wheat here?"

"We could be self sufficient... and food for masters summons could be cheeper too," Tama realised.

"Yeah, that's what I'm thinking," I nodded to her.

We continued talking about various stuff and I learned about the girls more.

"Flake, we got a problem here," Mika looked back to [My world] through portal I left open.

"What is it?"

"Monsters are attacking the fort, we need to help."

"On it, You guys stay here for now. I don't have enough equipment for all off you."

After defeating the adventurers who attacked us, we recieved their equipment as repayment. That being said, Ricca was only one with weapon right now.

We left our room and meet up with other people. Everyone, except for non combatants, were making groups in the main plaza near the gates.

"Everyone listen closely! What we stand up against is a horde of undead! But there is no need to worry now! We have magic items made for dealing with undead! So I would like every adventurer here to suport the knights!"

"Yeah!"

The adventurers got really hyped becouse the only thing they had to do was to help here and there and they would recieve a reward.

"Mika, do you think you can defeat undead?"

"That's hard to tell. I'm archer so my attacks are mostly piercing. I could use (Grand Hallow arrow), but I can use that only once per day, and someone could get caught in it too."

"No dice huh? Well, quess I will have to try out my new skills. [Summon Aku and Mossy]"

Magic circle appeared and the two rised from it.

"Aku I want you with me up there on the walls as a support. Mossy I want you to go to the front lines."

"Kuu!"

"Mos!"

"Alright, let's get into position," I nodded to Mika and took Aku on my shoulder. I also withdraw my bow and arrows from the Item box.

We made out way to the walls and I got to see what was in front of the gates. Head on head of skeletons, zombies, ghost, Wraiths and many more types of undead.

"Well, this is little... nauseating. Okay, I'm gonna use (Grand Hallow arrow) before the battle even starts."

Mika started chanting and magic power swirled around her bow. As she placed her delicate fingers on the bowstring an arrow made from pure light illuminated the walls.

"Destroy my enemies! (Grand Hallow arrow)!!"

The massive wave of energy was released in split second. The arrow hit the undead horde approximately in the middle, making giant circle of ashes in their formation.

"Did you see that? That must've been a Sacred archer no doubt about it!" one of the more knowledgeble knights shout out.

"There might not be so much for me to do in the end," I laughed drily, "Gotta show what we can do, right Aku?"

"Kuu!" Aku got all fired up with me and let out two rows of flames from his back.

"Let's do this: [Beast assimilation]!"

[Beast assimilation] is ability simmilar to Monster fusion except that it fuses Summoner with his monster for only ten minutes. This ability is unusable afterwards for six hours.

"Complete. Let's use (Flare cannon)!"

I extended my hand and accumulated magical energy. As I did a flickering ball of flames started to grow utill it was bigger then my body. In that moment I released it and hit the left flank of the undead horde, burning it to cinders.

"What the hack is that? That kid with lizzard on his back mixed together?!"

Truth is, in the Beast assimilation, I take on visual appearence of the beast I assimilate with. So right now, I had horns, tail and even wings, my face stayed same though.

"Whoa, what is this Flake?" Mika got surprised and the gates started to open bellow us.

"This? It's just a ability of summoners called [Beast assimilation], kinda cool isn't it?" I smiled at her.

"No, no, no, this isn't normal. Summoners can't merge with their summons, that's impossible. Impossible!"

"But, isn't this like one of the basic combat abilities of a summoner?"

"No, definitely not. Every summoner I know, was able to summon B rank monster at best and none could do something like this."

"Ah, I see. Well, I better get back to work before this wears off. (Flare accel) (Fireball barricade)"

I jumped of the walls while slowing down my fall with (Flare accel) and aiding the fighting knights with (Fireball barricade).

The hordes numbers started diminishing quickly thanks to our cooperation.

When we slay the last zombie, we started cheering and wanted to throw a celebration right away.

"Why. Why. Why. Why. Why. Why. Why. Why. Why. Why. Why. Why. Why. Why. Why. WHY?!" an eerie voice cried out of the forest just as my assimilation with Aku ended. I looked around.

What was free-floating in shade of tree was a figure of young woman in her late teens.

"WHY DiD yOU LivE??!!!" She screamed out with blood dripping from her eye sockets, where was just black holes.

This was my first meeting with Death spirit, an S ranked monster even the most heroic people fear.
