14. Danny the dog

Every step I took my heart would race even faster than before and my stomach would twist every second. It was like there was a feast in my stomach and the food were jumping up and down. Am damn so nervous but why am I? It's not that I have done something wrong, I just did it out of instincts and am one of the people who don't trust easily. I was half the stairs when I felt someone watching me and I couldn't help but look and my heart stop beating once our eyes met. My hand fisted on their own as I walked down and I tried to avoid the eyes but I couldn't it's like he had trapped me with his own eyes.

"Denise, finally you are here. I was about to come up for you" Xander said jolting me from my thought and I blinked twice before smiling at them.

"Why would you do that?" Alexa asked

"Don't tell me you are jealous Alexa?" Xander asked making everyone one laugh except for someone who was still looking at me.

"Am not, why would you say that? How can I be jealous of my best friend" she said glazing at her brother

"You tell me sister" he said jokingly earning a laughter from everyone.

"Guys can we eat already am dying already" Aiden said

"Sure" Xander said as he sat properly at his seat.

"Wait!" I exclaimed before they could start eating. And all eyes were on me. "You know as we are still going to eat, I still want to know why you guys are here?" I said and there was quite a silence before someone spoke.

"Do you still think we are lying?" I glazed at him and he looked at me waiting for an answer. I can't lie that I feel they aren't lying but you can't be sure of it.

"Not that I don't believe you guys, but I can't trust my instincts right now, this isn't my house only and I can't let people stay in it without further confirmation. Something may happen and there isn't someone who we can rely on" I said firmly and right now I feel like I have said something worse but I can't take it back. There was a long silence before someone interrupted.

"Can we eat now" I don't know who said it but everyone was back to eating but I just played with my food not knowing what to do. I couldn't eat, I don't know why. Was it something I just said or is it that I just feel so bad that my conscious couldn't stop shouting at me? I don't know but I couldn't eat.

I stood up and walked to the sitting room and called my brother. And that how it all went before everyone sat at the table room waiting for me to give them the news. But my brother wasn't picking up. But after a few minutes, he replied.

"Danny, why the hell were you not picking up my calls" I shouted after he took. I call him that when am angry at him he hates it. Because it reminds if of the movie Danny the dog and he hates that movie like shit. my younger brother and I usually tease him with the name. whenever he pisses us or when we get angry at him we use the this name to piss him off. it's cute and beside the movie is crazy.

"Language young lady, and why are you angry at me? It's not like it's my fault" he replied and I sighed

"Am sorry brother, but can you tell me why you didn't tell me about the guest at the beach house?" I questioned

"Am sorry Denise, I was to tell you but I forgot. Mykel said he wanted to use our house and I couldn't deny him besides he is our family's friend. and I can rest assured you will be save. And you guys meeting up again I saw it as a good opportunity I can't tell much details now" He replied and I sighed

"Family friend?" I shouted as it was the only thing I understood there and looked around to see everyone looking at me and Mykel with the face 'I told you so' "How on earth don't I know any family friend as him?" I asked

"Denise don't do anything stupid to them or am cancelling your vacation." I cut him off.

"What? What does that mean brother and why are you defending them so much?" I asked annoyed and pissed at his outburst how can he take their side while I still don't get who this family friend is? Who is he and why does he have so much control over him?

"As I said I can't explain it at the phone I will tell you once I came over there, am late for my meeting, love you" he said and I rolled my eyes "oh! And before I forget your brother is joining you tomorrow" he said and cut the phone before I could reply

"Wait what? Damien!! Shit!!" I cussed before turning my head to see six set of eyes looking at me and I smiled nervously.

"So?" Alexa was the first to ask

"They are indeed family friend" I replied not wanting to look at the guy I have been accusing since I arrived
