suffocating love

"Ning Xuan! You're insane!" The girl's stunning face was filled with anger, her hands firmly bound by handcuffs. The boy looked at the girl struggling, her wrists rubbed red from the restraints. With a heartache, he gently held the girl's delicate wrist, softly massaging it, his gaze tender. Yet his words were cold and ruthless. "Whenever you fall in love with me, I'll let you go." The girl, as if hearing a ridiculous joke, chuckled. "I will never love you! It's impossible in this lifetime!" Hearing the girl's resolute tone, the boy's heart, which he thought had already become numb, couldn't help but ache uncontrollably for a moment. He then stroked the girl's cheek, his expression infatuated yet pathological. "It's okay, we have all the time in the world." "If not in this lifetime, then let's start over. For eternity."

Being targeted at the amusement park.

The early summer sunlight wasn't scorching, but Ning An's delicate neck still turned slightly red. The two of them stood in front of a small stall at the entrance of the amusement park. Ning Xuan gently placed a delicately designed straw hat on her head, feeling a bit regretful about choosing the amusement park as their meeting spot.

The girl in front of him had tied her hair up, forming a high ponytail, which was a rare sight. Strands of hair that weren't tied up gently brushed against her fair neck, tempting him to reach out and touch.

"Ning Xuan, what ride do you want to go on? We should line up early, or it will get crowded later," Ning An said, feeling a bit anxious as she watched more people gather in the amusement park.

Originally, she had felt that going to the amusement park was a bit childish and forced. But when she remembered standing Ning Xuan up in her past life, a sense of guilt washed over her, and she accepted it calmly.

Ning Xuan looked at her indulgent smile, his eyes full of tenderness. "Sister, what do you want to play?"

Ning An turned to look at him, feeling a bit surprised that he seemed disinterested even though she had suggested coming to the amusement park together.

"Let's go to the haunted house," she said.

Although she had been to the amusement park with her father and Nangong before when she was younger, she had never been to the haunted house.

Ning Xuan was somewhat surprised that Ning An suggested going to the haunted house. Her courage seemed to have grown.

"Alright," he said, tentatively reaching out to hold her hand. He felt her hand stiffen for a moment but didn't pull away. A smile tugged at the corners of his mouth. It seemed that she wasn't as opposed to him as before. This time, he would slowly break down the walls around her heart and trap her completely in his own snare, making it impossible for her to escape.

Suddenly, he sensed someone's gaze on them and turned around sharply, meeting the eyes of a person wearing a mask and a tall figure. It wasn't someone he knew.

"What's wrong?" Ning An asked as she watched him suddenly turn around, following his gaze to see if there was anything unusual.

"It's nothing. I thought I saw someone I knew. Let's go, sister," he said.

Although Ning An had suggested going to the haunted house herself, when she stood at the entrance and looked at the bloody and terrifying graffiti, as well as the faint screams coming from inside, she felt a bit nervous.

Ning Xuan chuckled at her hesitation. "Sister, are you afraid to go in?"

Ning An didn't want to be looked down upon by him, so she bravely said, "Who said that? I'll go in first, and you follow me."

With a false bravado, Ning Xuan followed Ning An into the haunted house. The further they walked, the narrower the passage became, and the darker it got.

Ning An looked at the increasingly dark passage ahead and began to regret her decision. She had lived for two lifetimes and still couldn't conquer a haunted house. She felt embarrassed.

"Ning Xuan... Ning Xuan?" She began to feel scared. She had called out twice but received no response from Ning Xuan. She broke out in a cold sweat. Wasn't he right behind her? Had he been taken by ghosts?

She turned around to find Ning Xuan, but before she could do anything, a cool breeze brushed against her face, making her shiver. A drop of viscous liquid fell on her face, and when she instinctively wiped it away, she realized it was... blood!

She stiffened and looked up to see a pale-faced person lying on top, blood dripping from his mouth...

"Ahhh!!!" Ning An screamed in terror, closing her eyes and running blindly towards a corner...

Crouching in the corner, she timidly observed her surroundings, her heart pounding.

Aside from the occasional terrifying sound effects, there were no ghosts to scare her.

She breathed a sigh of relief and leaned against the wall, feeling defeated. She had tried everything, even risking her life, but still couldn't overcome the haunted house.

She cursed Ning Xuan in her heart for disappearing after promising to follow her.

Suddenly, she heard hurried breathing, and before she could react, someone tightly embraced her.

She instinctively struggled, but when she smelled a familiar scent in the darkness, she relaxed. It was Ning Xuan.

Ning An was puzzled. How did this person suddenly disappear and then reappear?

Feeling a bit awkward, she tried to break free, but he held her tighter. He whispered in her ear, "Don't move! We're being followed."

Not paying attention earlier, Ning Xuan had dealt with a few people who were following Ning An discreetly. Now, hearing Ning An's screams, he hastily dealt with them and then pushed open a hidden door in the wall, leading Ning An inside.

The space suddenly became pitch black.

Ning An raised her head from his embrace, feeling the close proximity between them. She could even feel the heat emanating from his body and the intense heartbeat beneath his clothes.

In the cramped space, the temperature rose suddenly, and even the air felt stifling. Ning An's face flushed, feeling uncomfortable.

"N-Ning Xuan..." she stammered, surprised by how alluring and gentle her voice sounded. Was this really her own voice?

Ning Xuan also felt uncomfortable. The space was too small, and he had to bend over to hold the girl in his arms, causing her to press against him.

Her slender waist trembled slightly in his grasp, and her chest pressed against his body, sending tingles of pleasure through him.

Feeling the girl relax in his arms, he wanted to hold her tighter, but he was afraid of hurting her.

Hearing her trembling voice calling his name, he swallowed hard, his eyes already filled with desire.

"Shh... Don't speak, just listen," he said in a hoarse voice, his tone filled with desire.

Ning An realized that this was his voice when he was emotional...

She didn't have time to think about it as she focused on the sound of footsteps approaching from outside. She could hear them getting closer and closer.

Ning Xuan frowned, feeling annoyed. He had just dealt with a few people following them earlier, and now they were being trailed again.

"Ning Xuan, it seems that Uncle Er is determined to get us this time. There are quite a few people here, and it's impossible to leave by the normal route. We'll be targeted as soon as we step out," Ning An said.

"Then let's not take the normal route," he replied.

Soon after, two people with strange ghostly makeup and dressed in black walked out from the employee's special passage behind the haunted house and headed towards the busiest area.

The two disappeared into the crowd...

Ning An used makeup remover she had picked up from the dressing room and wiped off her makeup, revealing her beautiful face.

She glanced at the amusement park not far away and handed the makeup remover to the person beside her.

"Quick, remove your makeup. It's not safe yet. Let's go quickly," she said.

The young man took the makeup remover from her hand, raising his eyebrows in confusion. He imitated the girl's technique and removed his makeup.

Ning An watched him with a smirk, finding his awkward and clumsy movements amusing. It had been a long time since she had seen Ning Xuan in such a disheveled state.

Despite hearing her laughter, the young man didn't get angry. He looked at her helplessly and called out, "Sister."
