Never meet your heroes

"Where're all the other fans…" Silence formed between us as we blankly stared at each other, her gaze slowly drifting off from mine which caused my eyes to narrow in suspicion.

"They- just haven't made it here yet–" She claimed, probably hoping for me to drop the subject entirely.

I kept my glance on her, the longer it lasted the more uncomfortable she felt, clearly, it was the weight of guilt on her conscience.

"W-what's that look for?!" She asked, trying to turn this around on me being weird, a soft sigh escaped my lips before I continued, voicing my suspicions.

"I just find it hard to believe fans of a Tododoko company be late to an event-" I argued, her head slumping to the floor as she heard my point, fidgeting in her seat. She was acting really weird, and with the number of viewers she has, though little, at least ten or fifteen should be here by now–

'Wait- it couldn't be…' My eyes widened when I considered the fact, looking at her with a look of disappointment and a hint of disgust. "Don't tell me–"

"You're using bots aren't you!?" She practically leaped across the desk to shut me up, her hands planted firmly on my mouth, refusing to let up no matter how much I struggled.

"Shhh! Don't go shouting things like that-" She hissed, clearly I got hit the nail right on the head, as she raised up to see if anyone heard my blatant outburst. "Look, I'm gonna remove my hand now- be quiet…"

I gave her a nod as she slowly removed her hand from my lips. I took in a deep breath before saying. "So that's a yes-"

She crossed her arms, giving me a soft scowl, "Can you shut up– Look, I get this doesn't seem great in hindsight but–"

"How many real viewers have you got?" I interrupted, looking down at her, demanding an answer immediately, She looked away again, her arms grew tighter around her chest as she bit her lower lip lightly.

"Well-" She hesitated, clearly embarrassed about the situation

"How many you got?!" I asked a bit louder, the sudden change in volume startling her as she looked around yet again before turning to me. It grew silent between us, nothing much was said before she uttered.

"Well…" She continued, her hand tightening on the end of her dress.

"You're the only one–" It was quiet enough you could hear a pin drop, the two of us just looking at each other in a blank stare.

"Eh?" I uttered, her face going red as she looked to the floor.

"You're the only one–" She mumbled again, I couldn't believe my ears- I must be hearing wrong or something, I took a minute and leaned down to her height putting my ears so she could whisper it to me.

"I'm not sure I quite caught that–" I muttered, her face was practically fuming as she raised her head to whisper into my ears, her voice shaky as she said it once more.

"You're the only one—"

….

..

.

"Why did you even come here then?!" I snapped out of shock, seeing her pout before she tried to shut me up once more, but I fought against it, causing me to stumble onto my back to which she promptly took advantage of and covered my mouth yet again.

"Keep it down will you!?" She shouted back, her hands eventually covering my lips yet again.

"I came here because I didn't expect anyone to come, alright!?" She shouted, my hand reaching to pry her grip from my face

"Didn't you say to keep our voices down?!" I argued.

"Shut up!" She forced her hand back to my mouth, her grip was abnormally strong! This is not the grip I expect from a dainty gamer girl at all!!

"I needed the money! And just me being here and being on stage earlier was enough! Ok?!" Her face was beat red admitting the truth to me. I turned my face until my mouth had space to move.

"You're a shallow woman," I said in a hushed voice.

"I don't want to hear that from you!" She snapped, Our banter was stopped by the lights going out, the two of us looking up in shock and confusion as to what was happening.

"Everyone please remain calm, the lights will be on shortly." Astra's voice was faint but it echoed throughout the room. Everyone remained silent but the tension in the air was still evident. But as promised the lights soon turned on and they all carried on like nothing at all happened, the sound of one of the streamer's audible gasp getting lost in the sound of the crowd.

"Someone stole the tech that was being loaded here!" They shouted in a panic, the room fell into silence once more and everyone murmured amongst themselves, confused to what could've caused such a thing to happen.

"Does that mean we have to end this early?" another random streamer whispered to the other, everyone was confused and lost before Astra finally spoke up.

"Ok everyone, that's it for today, can you all form a single file line so we can check you at the door? Thanks for staying with us!" She bowed before everyone.

There were a few groans of disappointment as they left, UntitledGhost soon moved her hand away from my my mouth and looked at me with a serious glare.

"We speak nothing of this–" She hissed before leaving behind the other streamers.

"It's not like you're big enough to be canceled-" I muttered to myself as I got up from where I was lying, I just wanted to go home at this point, I was beyond disappointed, this day can't get any worse...

"Hey you, can you come to the door please?" Astra called out to me, causing my head to rise, giving her a slight nod, walked over to her, and got ready to head home.

"So-" A man in a police uniform scratched his chin as he read the charge, my head hung low in disappointment, my eyes filled with unshed tears.

"You've been charged with attempting to steal high tech from industry, and resisting arrest, claiming it wasn't you, you're gonna be serving a lengthy sentence there my friend."

"This can't get any worse…"
