A smirk slowly grew on Atticus's face.
"Why sunshine, I wasn't expecting you to listen to my words, let alone remember them and quote them back to me," Atticus said smugly. It was annoying, but Daphne would take his smugness over his cold shoulder any day.
"Yes, well, don't get too used to it," she retorted.
"As my lady commands," Atticus said, pretending to bow. "Do you want to get inside the tub first, or shall I?"
Daphne paused, nearly biting her tongue as heat suffused her face. If she got in first, the water could conceal her body before Atticus entered. If she got in later, Atticus would get a full view of her as she clambered into the tub. She could make him close his eyes, but…
"Ladies first then," Atticus said, guessing her dilemma. "I'll wait outside while you're changing. Let me know when I can come in, or if you want me to come in at all."
