The plot against Douglas

He applied pressure on the horses side, and it's stomach, soon enough, as if it was magic, it jerked up, as if scared, and ready to fight, but when it looked round and saw Douglas, she hugged his side, it was a way to show that she is happy to find him there.

"Peg, we don't have time to stay here, we need to go back to Springfield, as soon as possible".

He was telling her, as if she could reply him, though he knows she understands, and would treat the issue with the sane urgency, she could see in his eyes.

She turned towards him to climb on to her, so that they could continue their journey, though Douglas would have loved to allow peg walk a while, before running, but he couldn't, as he is not sure of their safety.

The Duncan men would never have believed that they could survive, so they didn't bother going to the other side of the sea to wait for them, they just went back.

Douglas rode on Peg, without stop, till they finally got to the Boundary, they know that they are already close to their home.

On the way, they met people that could pose as a threat to them, but because Douglas have been in the war for long, he knew exactly what to say to people asking him questions because of the horse they saw.

They know that no commoner, could have such a horse to himself, but Douglas also knows what to do.

He didn't claim to be from the royal house of the Cole, he just acted like a messanger, who was taking words to his master or family, for he doesn't know whom to trust, if his master's inlaw could kill him, then he could come back for him, since he knows the truth.

He was thinking that Peg would be tired, but she didn't stop even for once, she would hop, whenever she felt tired, and then she would gallop at some point, while at other time, she would run, like she is been chased, that was how they continued, till they finally got to the market square of Springfield.

Peg knew she was home, she would see the other horses, and she would relax from running like a mad horse for close to two days on the road, and close to death, but as soon as they got to the Cole house, there was a gathering of nobles.

Douglas gently jumped down from Peg, who was taken in to the stable by one of the guards, who glared at Douglas, as though he was filthy.

They seem to be waiting for him.

He didn't think they could have gotten the information about the death of Mr Cole so soon, but just when he opened his mouth to talk, he sees a man walking in between the crowd of the nobles.

Even of he had seen the man in his dreams, with blind folds on his face, he would have known that it is him.

He needed not ask how he got to the mansion before him, after all, he had passed out with peg on the shore, he doesn't know how long they were gone for, but he knows that he spent quite a long time, trying to get peg to come back to consciousness.

"He killed...

Douglas raised a finger to speak, but he received a slap on the cheek, which shut him up immediately.

He turned to check who slapped him, and is shocked, that it is the daughter of Mr Cole, borne to him, at a very old age, which made him close with her.

"You killed papa?

He heard her ask, and that was when he looked back at Duncan, now he understands what just happened.

Duncan got to the Mansion of Cole before him, just to tell a lie against him, but why will they even believe him, what motive dies he have to kill his master, whom he had served for years.

He wasn't given a chance to defend himself, two guards just pulled his hands behind, and led him away.

He didn't need to ask where he was being taken to, for he himself, have taken offenders there many times on the order of The great Cole himself.

The guards that held him, are the guards that used to be his subjects, he was hoping they could at least hear him out, and know that they have an enemy in the house, but they just kept slapping him, it almost felt like they have been waiting for a chance to hit him.

Douglas decided to keep quiet, he couldn't be talking to them, for they would not believe him, he could only pray for a miracle to happen.

He was locked up in a darker dungeon, he bowed his head low, and didn't want to look up.

"I need to save this family".

He says to himself, but then he heard a familiar voice, he didn't know was there with him, or maybe he just got there, without him noticing it, since he had his head bowed low.

"You cannot save them, because you will be beheaded, at sun down".

His voice echoed in his ears, and though he knew the voice belonged to Duncan, he still wanted to look up at him.

"Where is Carmen?

He asked, for that is the only person he could think of at the time.

They have gotten the report that she went missing, she didn't get home, her father went in search of her, and Duncan killed his father, his fears increased, that maybe, just maybe, Carmen have also been killed.

"You like her, don't you?

He came even closer to his cage.

Well I am sorry, you will die soon, and maybe you will meet her in the land of the dead, for if she isn't here now, then she must have died, while trying to escape from me".

He laughed hysterically, and that was when Douglas trued to throw a punch at him, even with the demarcation of the bars, but he only discovered that he wasn't just in a cage, he was also chained.

Duncan was a bit scared at first, thinking he wasn't chained, as he made to move backward, but when he finally realized that he couldn't harm him, he spoke in an angry tone to him.

"Next time you try that, I will send you meet your master, even sooner, than expected".

He walked away, while Douglas just glared at him with so much anger in his heart.
