Spending a Little

He spent some time in a private room at the inn, he needed to think, he hadn't planned what to do once he got his hands on a large amount of money, although he was excited he kept himself focused, as far as he knew there was no way his aunt could know about the money, so now was the time to find himself somewhere to live, he didn't plan to learn to drive so a robot car would be the best bet for him, as he could then safely log in while traveling, once he had made the choice he logged out and began searching for a place to live.

After an hour he found a place just outside Cardiff, it was on the coast and a little remote, but with well maintained roads, and since Bonds law office was in Cardiff it would be useful if he could get back here, the house was 1 bedroom and a little on the small side, but that didn't matter really as these days most people lived and worked in Virtual Space much land had been reclaimed for forests and nature, eliminating much of the choking pollution around main cities, the house was only half a million, as he needed the rest for the car, he paid a little extra and the house was furnished with basic furniture, and had a fully stocked and supplied kitchen, so now it was time to get his car, and for this he would do it in person.

He slowly began to understand the economics of the world that he had been taught in school, it use to be that items and possessions in an online environment were considered trivial and unimportant whereas real life property and holdings were important, but these days things were different, things online were much more important since most people lived in Virtual Space, and so they were more expensive, real world homes were now simple, functional, and comfortable but not much more than that, and homes in Virtual Space could be as extravagant and luxurious as you could imagine.

He walked to the car dealership, even in this new enlightened world, people still loved their cars, and car dealerships were pretty much unchanged, an impressive building with a large glass showroom, and cheaper cars outside for show, he walked past many model of car some simple and functional, some flashy and stylish, some massive, some small, but he bypassed them all and walked directly into the showroom.

The salesman spotted him right away, a new young face, possibly looking for his first car? but it didn't matter, a customer was a customer, he walked up and greeted Paul politely guiding him to a desk, he asked Paul for his details and Paul linked his rig and sent them, for a moment the salesman's face fell before the professional mask returned,

"i'm sorry young man, but without a valid licence i cannot sell you a car,"

Paul smiled and just pointed behind the salesman, the car he pointed to was a sleek silver car, it had a standard super-car look but had hydraulic wheels so it could cope with most terrains, there were two doors that opened very wide, inside were 4 seats, it had a sleek black body with silver and gold lines, it had the retro look of a Lambo V12 Vision.

The salesman turned around and looked, he then checked the information Paul had provided, this was the payoff for being professional, commission.

After filling out a few forms and dropping pretty much the rest of his money, the car was his, the salesman helped him link it to his neural rig, and the car now responded to his commands, he gave it the address and set it for 1 passenger, the 3 other seats sank into the floor and the one seat left widened and lengthened into a lazy-boy, Paul climbed in and after thanking the very happy salesman, the car roared off to it's destination, Paul sat for a few minutes watching the scenery whiz by, and when he was satisfied it wouldn't crash or take a wrong turn, he connected to the public Global network and logged back into Another World.
