The Start of a New Leaf

Butler Donald showed him around the mansion, as he carried Baby Liam with him, who is finally awake and looking where they are going.

He led them to the basement quarters where few attendants stay. They have their own room of space, and a separate bathroom and toilet.

He opens the door for them.

"This is the room where you and your son will be staying."

Creighton slightly vows to Butler Donald as a gesture of respect.

"Sir Donald, I do not know how to thank you for helping me this much. I will work very hard to repay your kindness" Creighton gladly said

Baby Liam quietly looks at Butler Donald.

"Don't worry much Creighton, like you said your son is a precious gift to you, so do your best to provide him a better future." As he taps Creighton's right shoulder with a smile.

Creighton generously smiled as well as Liam tenderly smiled and looked at his father.

"Pap-pa" he taps his left cheek, smiling.

He murmured.

"Your son is adorable, Creighton. I believe this house will be filled with mirth again."

"What did you say, Sir Donald?" Creighton curiously asked while his face is being caressed by his son.

"Nothing, rest up, and wake up at 5:00 a.m., so I could show you the rest of the house."

Then, Creighton nodded as a gesture of yes with a polite smile on his face.

Before they end the night. Creighton and Liam have a warm bath, and they both smiled at each other. The comfort between a father and a son.

The room was a little cold, but the bed was comfortable to sleep in with decent pillows and a warm blanket. There was a table with drawers that has a pad of paper and a pencil. A little wardrobe to put their clothes in.

And Creighton felt blessed as they rested well for the night.

The next morning, Creighton carries Liam on his left arm as they walk in the spacious hallway with Butler Donald. The mansion has several old meaningful abstract and nature paintings, the flooring is made from expensive marble tiles, and every corner of the mansion seen was divinely immaculate. The attendants never walk around the mansion after they are done with their job they go to their respective homes. He showed him the two different dining areas, the guest lounge, the ballroom space, the kitchen, the library, the prohibited rooms, and Lady Agatha's home office.

Liam's face lit up as he seems to enjoy the luxurious view of the mansion and kept pointing at the paintings which make him smile and giggle in his way while his father is listening to Butler Donald's instructions.

"As my adjutant, you will from time to time assist Lady Agatha in her morning routine. She does horse riding every Tuesday and Thursday morning. All you must do is prepare the horse before 7:00 a.m. I will show you later where the horse stable is." Butler Donald explained.

"You also need to attend to the horses' needs. Lady Agatha has two horses, Spencer, and Stacey. So, it would not be much for you to do."

"I understand, Sir Donald." Creighton listens intently while Liam's eyes are busy wandering around looking back and forth, in awe as he slightly drools.

"Also, the room at the far end is forbidden. Only the maidservants are allowed to go there and clean. Before that room is Lady's Agatha home office. Oftentimes, you will be receiving mail from the mailman, so just directly give it to Lady Agatha." he added.

"It's a simple task, and I believe you can manage it. If I am not around, Lady Agatha might need your help to do some other tasks. She will ring a bell that you can hear even if you are in the kitchen. Later, I will accompany you to the Kitchen to meet Carrie and her daughter Ashley, they look after the Kitchen and household chores. Do you have any questions?"

Butler Donald fixes his white cotton gloves.

"I understand all you said, Sir Donald. But there's something that bothers me when I met Lady Agatha yesterday. I do not want to be rude, but -." Creighton hesitantly said as he holds Liam properly facing Butler Donald.

"Is it about the mask she is wearing?" Butler Donald interrupted.

Creighton is still hesitant to continue yet Butler Donald seems to understand Creighton's worried face.

"Are you worried? or are you curious about what happened to Lady Agatha?" he confronted.

"It's not that I am worried or curious about what happened to her. When our eyes met, I could see through her eyes that she has been lonely for such a long time." he looked at Butler Donald.

As Butler Donald is a little surprised by what Creighton said. He seems to trust Creighton's good intentions.

"I don't know why but I felt like she put herself in a cage that is waiting to be saved." Creighton sincerely added, as Butler Donald sighed but at the same time comprehended what he means.

"Creighton, this is the first time I heard it. But Lady Agatha lost her entire family."

Creighton is stunned in disbelief, as Butler Donald looked at him.

"She was left alone with all the Ashton assets except the shares of her uncle Lord Douglas Ashton. Because of it, she puts all her focus and heart into working every step of the way to keep the Ashton name and to look after thousands of employees that depend on her for their daily living."

"But, she could marry someone who could support her," Creighton said.

"Creighton, we are not in the position to meddle in her personal life. Besides, Lady Agatha has no intention of marrying anyone."

"What?" Creighton uttered.

"Anyway, for now, attend to your son. Lady Agatha will need your assistance by tomorrow morning at the stables. So, for today, feel free to walk around and be familiar with the surroundings which I showed you earlier. I will see you later at 5:00 pm."

Butler Donald turned around and left him be.

"How can she do that to herself? Is she even happy?"

He can't believe that Lady Agatha has no plans to marry anyone. He felt disappointed, but he is just a mere aide and has no right to question what happened to Lady Agatha.

In his deep thoughts, he will do his best for his son, and to become a trusted aide for Lady Agatha.
