"Let's hope nothing else goes wrong."
Coulson silently prayed as he looked at the surveillance tape in his hands.
If the appearance of Object-096 were to spread on the internet, the consequences were unimaginable.
So…
The question is, how do I deliver the 096 photo to the Director?
Knowing that viewing this thing could be fatal, Coulson was not eager to sacrifice himself or his team.
"Never mind, I'll just hand it all over. Let the Director deal with this issue."
With that, Coulson submitted the entire tape to S.H.I.E.L.D., and also made a backup copy to send to the Foundation. After all, even spies need to maintain their performance records.
...
In the villa where Ethan was staying.
The doorbell rang urgently.
A courier stood outside the door, repeatedly pressing the doorbell.
"Hello, is there something you need?" Ethan asked as he opened the door.
Seeing Ethan, the courier quickly handed him a pen and urged, "Hello, this is your package. Please sign for it."
"A package? I don't recall ordering anything online, and I don't think anyone would send me something."
Ethan took the package with confusion and signed his name. It was a habit from his previous life—he would accept any delivery that wasn't paid for. After all, in the online shopping era he came from, many stores sent random items for user experience. He wasn't one to refuse such freebies.
Just then, Natasha, freshly out of the shower and wrapped in a towel, frowned as she saw Ethan bringing in the package.
"A package? Who sent this?"
"Not sure!" Ethan shook his head and reached for a fruit knife on the table to open the package.
Seeing Ethan was unsure about the package's origin, Natasha's expression changed instantly.
"Be careful!"
Natasha rushed forward and kicked the package, which had only been slightly opened, away.
Before the package could fly out, it exploded in mid-air.
"Boom!"
The explosion was deafening, and the once opulent living room was turned into chaos in an instant.
Ethan, who was closest to the explosion, was thrown backwards. His skin was severely burned, and his right arm, which had been holding the fruit knife, was partially blown off.
The blast's shockwave sent Natasha tumbling, but she quickly got up and rushed to Ethan's side, asking, "Are you okay?"
Ethan, dazed and with a ringing in his ears, shook his head weakly. Despite his appearance, the pain was not overwhelming due to his plant-based body, which didn't really feel pain.
With the plant body's regeneration ability activated, the heat stored in Ethan's body was rapidly consumed. The burned skin fell off and was replaced by new tissue, even the severed arm was starting to grow back.
"Meat! I need meat!" Ethan's face changed as he realized his energy reserves were being depleted rapidly. He said with difficulty.
Natasha, noticing the abnormal speed of Ethan's healing, remembered that Ethan had ordered a ton of instant beef a day before. She had not understood why he needed so much until now.
Without hesitation, Natasha picked up Ethan and hurried to the cold storage room downstairs.
Seeing the packages of instant beef, Ethan quickly transformed into a glutton, stuffing beef into his mouth continuously.
As he consumed large amounts of beef, his injuries healed faster and faster.
In less than three minutes, Ethan's wounds were completely healed, and even his severed arm had grown back. If it weren't for the torn clothes, Natasha would have thought she had imagined the whole scene.
"This… is this really it?"
Natasha stared in disbelief.
"As the Foundation's president, having some super abilities is quite normal, right?" Ethan said with a straight face.
Hearing Ethan's serious response, Natasha's lips twitched as she sarcastically remarked, "President, what's your number in the Foundation? Containment Object-1?"
She suspected that this president might himself be a containment object. After all, there was no rule in the Foundation against its members being containment objects.
Ethan just rolled his eyes and didn't answer.
"I want to know who sent me this bomb!" Ethan's gaze was intense as he looked at Natasha.
Ethan's first suspects were Hydra and S.H.I.E.L.D. After all, he had only been in this world for four days and had only offended these two organizations.
Facing Ethan's suspicious gaze, Natasha realized he was suspecting her.
Thinking about how she had risked her safety to save him, only to be suspected in return, Natasha felt a pang of grievance.
With a mix of sarcasm and frustration, Natasha said, "Dear President, you seem to have overlooked an important detail. Remember, you still owe me a nuclear warhead!"
