StarDuster - Glory of the Umbral Avenger

My Father always told me to stand tall, this is my opportunity to do just that. [ This novel has been discontinued, a redux version of this series is currently in production. ] A glorious reign over the realm only to be hunted, a glorious return only to be haunted. Avery Hall had a fair share of experience when it came to the many layers of humanity. With the death of our real world in the future, everyone gets digitized and becomes... well, Immortal. To a degree. But how to do you spend immortality? Video Games... of course, with everything being digital... and with Hyper Advanced A.I... it's possible to create games that simulate what reality used to be like. Our story takes place in Starduster MMO, a fantasy based MMO game where the game's story is run mainly by player choice, with any choice being an important factor into anything. Our main point of view is Avery Hall, who specializes in the Sniper Class, a long range damage class that uses a Rifle. He is quite efficient at making use of all he has available, and is kind of a jerk. Avery also has been preventing the Progress of the game by holding on to a Key Artifact, other players find out about this and after a while decide they don't want him around anymore. While normally death lowers levels... his reputation is too low within the game and he gets banned, luckily he has a second account, as most V.I.P. users in the world do... Avery, swears to return the status quo, but maybe he'll be good this time... hopefully, habits take a long time to stop. So we join Avery's journey to get back to the top, just make sure he doesn't forget to properly transfer accounts.

A Fight for a True Hero ( PT 1 )

Touching the Stone, I was pulled into an infinite world.

Don't be worried though, I tell myself inside, This isn't Hell. There is structure and form to this world, stone lines the floor and the Blue sky is full of Clouds.

No need to be scared, beyond that I was pulled along with Jotun and Scarab. They are with me, that means the stone is working properly as far as I can tell. Before long I landed upon the Stone Flooring as the System rang out to me.

| Welcome to the Arena, Combatants. Combat will be started in 2 minutes while you adjust to your power. |

| All power gained stored throughout your memories will be transferred temporarily to your current self, please follow all rules and guidelines. |

I'm ready to begin, Flexing my Body and Magic Power I get a feel of what exactly I'm capable of with this power. It came natural to me, it was power I held before at one point... but all at once it felt a little weird. I was no longer wearing my Regalia set, rather I was wearing my GodSlayer set... It seems a little unfair to use this but, Jotun is the one that asked for it. I'll at least sandbag a little bit for her, after all I am a Ally first and Mentor Second.

So, I unequip all of my gear. There isn't need for it just yet, I'll just be using the Regalia set which doesn't provide any Passives or such. Scarab is busily measuring data and monitoring what is going on, I wonder why he is her after all... it doesn't seem that he should be allowed considering Syn isn't here. Whatever, only a few minutes remain and as such I begin preparing some Magic.

: Sacrificial Sword + Wrap of Blossoms + Material Fusion :

: Result --> BloodLotus Blade :

Within my hand formed a Blade larger than the Fusion one I made yesterday, yet it felt even lighter... it was blunt as always, but this time it was thicker and more decorated. It Shimmered in a Pink Gold Coating and illuminated the surroundings with a heavy must of Blood.

Jotun was prepared as well, pulling out her Sword and preparing to strike. Her armor flashed from what she wore at the Stone to before I went to Hell, the blade never changed but instead grew longer and sharper... I could tell from looks alone she was stronger then I've ever seen her, and I bet the feeling was mutual.

The countdown started, and before I could even prepare a monologue or any sort of dialogue between Jotun and I... well, we began. To be more accurate though, I was firing off Blood Barrage shots at Jotun while stalling to prepare for my magic.

The explosions snagged the samurai, the effects of bleeding were inflicted and healed immediately. She continued charging forward swinging her blade endlessly, rather than backing away like the Coward I usually am in these types of fights I opted to swap to my Side arm and Combat knife.

The side arm of course being Crimson Saber.

With each shot that rang out from me came a eerie clang against her blades as she continued, she was deflecting my bullets... if her skills are of that level then I wouldn't be able to outclass her with Swordsmanship. Right?

I am a liar, my senses are pumping in full beyond what Jotun will have naturally. Like a drugged up Demonic hellbeast VS a Pro Athlete.

Me being the Hellbeast in this situation, rather than fighting with skill I shrug off wounds gained from her waxing blade while keeping large amounts of combative pressure.

That's when the Ice started pouring in on the field, she activated all of her passives and began changing the field to suit her. It will help considering I don't have excellent traction on Ice with the Regal Set. But only a little while longer, and my magic will be complete... I don't see as to why she hasn't used a stun to interrupt it yet, is she not used to having to fight high class mages who use a blade?

Adaptation is the killer of Kings, after all... if she can't even adapt to face this then there isn't hope for her to win this fight. Neither will there be hope for me if I cast this spell, its a fake one that damages the user or whoever breaks it...

Wait, she knows! That's why she isn't breaking it! Well, crap. I have to cancel this early now, that's such a waste of mana! I was outsmarted... but what I lack for in skill and intelligence I make up in combining broken strategies.

My Rifle and Sidearm fades from existence as I prepare to swap stances, I only wield a knife at this point anyhow so it doesn't affect me at this point... and now she is retreating. She probably can zone me out with some kind of projectile, without my guns I don't have an answer.

I'll have to do this fast then.

: Demon Magic 9th tier, Blaze of Ragnarok :

Gathering Demon type magic from power gained during my reign as Crimson, I launch a counter at her Icy field and now projectiles being flung at me... a Black Flame expands from my hand and droops slowly onto the floor.

: 'BloodPetal King of Morin ' is altering this spell. :

: 10th Tier Spell, Regal Magic. :

: להבה שמימית :

The flame erupted in a white light, it fastly spread across the entirety of the realm before eventually simmering down into a lowly blaze... ice melted upon it and drowned out flames for only a temporary amount of time before it automatically spurred back to life, the flame seemed nearly alive in that way.

My health was cut by a third, at this spell is to blame... I don't have capabilities to cast higher then 9th level magic without harming myself, and my titles force me to do so... that means I cannot cast higher than 7th level magic to be safe. I can't trust anything of a higher caliber.

And neither can I trust my eyes anymore, her blades began splitting endlessly in a multitude of different forms eventually hovering in front of her with over 5 Different total blades. She pulled the one farthest to the left, a Blackened Claymore. The rest disappeared as she ready another assault.

I opened my wings.
