“You two’re disgustingly cute,” Andy said. “Hey, Jason. Can I ask a question?”
“Is it about bread?” Jason picked up Colby’s hand and started playing with Colby’s fingers, having remembered that they liked this. They did. “Saw you holding a scone.”
“That was for Colby.” Andy widened eyes at him. “It’s a workout question. I swear.”
“Sure…”
“I was wondering what you did, y’know…to get those buns.”
“Oh my God,” Jill said.
Colby, despite expecting something along those lines—he knew Andy’s sense of humor—tumbled into laughter. Loopy and cavorting, raindrops pelted window-glass behind them.
Jason gazed dramatically skyward, and declared, “Sorry, that’s on a…kneadto know basis.”
Andy applauded loudly.
