[Your stats have increased by 300%.]
[Your physical and magical resistance have increased by 50%.]
Golden energy flowed in his veins, strengthening his every muscle. Hans briefly closed his eyes and inspected the overflowing mana leaking in his core.
The mana consumption even feels nothing to him. It's as if, he has nigh unlimited energy.
As he opened his eyes, Hans stepped forward.
Shu—
'Seriously?'
His strength is off the charts so it shouldn't be strange if his foot suddenly plunged into the ground.
'I'm not used to it yet.'
The sudden increase in stats made his balance unstable. If he touched a person right now, he might accidentally kill them.
To prevent accidents, Hans glanced at the two knights he tricked to send him to the place where the strongest monsters lay.
According to them, a dragon is laying dormant here and hunters requested the empire to kill it or send it away. But due to the lack of reward, no adventurers nor knights even want to accept it.
"You two…" Hans called.
"Y-yes, sir!" The two young knights immediately stiffened after seeing Hans' seemingly blazing form.
"Leave, now." Hans ordered.
Although he tricked the two into sending him here, of course, Hans couldn't just let them die. Hans wouldn't let them get killed after they offered him goodwill.
"Y-yes, sir!"
As if their butts are set ablaze, the two sprinted out of the forest. They were slow but as long as they continued running, they'll eventually get out of the dragon's attack range in time.
Rumble—, rumble—
Whoosh—
Feeling the cold breeze hitting his face, Hans raised his head.
The huge blue dragon wings spread through the skies as the dragon hovered in the clouds. Its combination of bluish and silver scales bounced off the light hitting its skin. Thus, it was easy to mistake it for a silver dragon.
'It's huge.'
Even though the complete body of the dragon did not appear yet, Hans could tell it was massive based on its giant wings that stretched over a hundred meters long. Each time its wings flutter, colossal winds reach towards the ground.
Just by looking at it, Hans could tell that the monster is leagues above the others he fought earlier.
Roooooar—!
Rumble—!
The clouds slowly darkened as the dragon lowered his altitude. Hans focused his gaze on its body. The dragon is over 150 meters long and has tremendously huge fangs. It's as if its bite power is enough to tear anything into pieces.
Fuuuu—!
Smokes escape through its nose as it breathes out a dreadful energy Hans never experienced before.
"Why would the empire let someone like that live in their territory?"
Initially, Hans guessed that the dragon might be an S-class at least. However, after seeing it face to face, his thoughts changed.
"This is an SS-Class Monster or maybe Peak S-class." Hans mumbled.
Well, either way, it was still an extremely dangerous monster.
What's more, it's a dragon and the dragons both have innate superior physical and magical capabilities. Fighting them is similar to battling a mage and a close combat fighter together at the same time.
"Dragon Slayer Hans? What a fitting title."
[Errr, I'm sorry to break your delusions but… that's not a dragon.]
As Hans grabbed the hilt of his swords, he suddenly halted. Plundy's words echoed in his head.
"What do you mean not a dragon?"
[I mean it's a dragon but… not a dragon.]
"..."
[...]
"What?"
Confused, Hans scratched his chin. He was about to ignore Plundy but his information might be valuable. After all, Plundy's like a history book or an encyclopedia.
[True Dragons have four legs and a pair of wings while that one only has two legs and a pair of wings. A monster of such characteristics is called a wyvern.]
"Oh, I see…" Hans nodded but he quickly added, "But wyverns are dragons too, right? I mean… look at it."
Back on Earth, this creature would immediately be labeled as part of the dragon race. No pun attached. What's more, even at one glance, it's easy to say that it's a dragon rather than a wyvern.
[Wyverns are descendants of a dragon so they aren't really dragons. Just like how you are a descendant of a monkey… you get the rest.]
"That's… okay."
After clearing the misunderstanding, Hans' face gradually turned back to being serious. His [Primeval Eyes] only located three weak points of the wyvern so he needed to strike with accuracy.
However, what bothers him is that fighting in mid-air is not his forte. He could walk and run around but that would exhaust his stamina faster.
After all, using [Emperor's Strides] is not free. If he wants to gain an advantage, dragging the dragon to the ground would be the best option.
Hence…
'I'll go for the wings.'
Rooooooar—!!!
The dragon's roar rumbled throughout the forest. Some adventurers with sensitive hearing heard the cry from several miles away.
The dragon lowered its sight and scanned the area. Hans grabbed his swords and pulled them out of their scabbards.
Shing—!
Whooosh—
Flames covered his blades until the handguard. Although he didn't know how strong he is right now, there was no reason to hold back.
If he wants to adjust to the overflowing power, he has to use all of his power.
[Flame Control.]
Burn—
His eyes sharpened.
"Here I come."
Bang—
Hans propelled himself to the air and used the [Emperor's Strides] skill to jump higher. He used it again and again until his body closed the gap between him and the dragon.
Rooooooar—!
Even though Hans tried to conceal his murderous intent, it seemed like the flames caught the attention of the dragon.
Having his sneak attack busted, Hans changed his plans.
"Hello, friend." Hans shouted.
Rooooar—!!!
The dragon glared at Hans and began to open his mouth. Flames started forming above its jaw.
[Hans, that's a dragon breath! I mean wyvern breath!!!]
"Got it!" Hans yelled before crossing his swords to his chest. The swords vibrated.
[Constantine Sword Style: First Cut]
The dragon's neck bloated before the surrounding temperature rose.
Then, it exhaled a large amount of flames.
Roooooar —!
Burn—!
Even with the high temperature, Hans' concentration didn't break. Particles of water bubbled in the air as they gathered around his swords.
The flaming sword was immediately surrounded by water.
Then, as the breath reached him, Hans swung his sword.
[Flame Enhanced: Flowing Water!]
Booom—!
The two attacks clashed.
"Huh?"
Hans' face flinched as he felt his swords easily cut the wyvern's breath. However, there was no time to be impressed and he immediately took advantage of this.
Riiip—!
Hans dashed forward and the air boomed as he leaped into the dragon's head.
Whooosh—!
As his figure gradually closed the gap between him and the monster, Hans raised his foot and slammed it on the dragon's head.
[Dragon Kick.]
Slam—!
Roooooar —!
As a retaliation, the wyvern swung its wings towards him.
Swooosh—!
Clang—!
Hans smiled, quickly wielded the swords in front of his face, and struck the wings with all his power.
Cut—
But instead of a hard collision, Hans cut through the wyvern's wings through its hard scales. His blade passed through it without resistance. Blood splashed at his face as he glanced at the damage he dealt.
At that moment, realization struck his head.
'Ahh, that's right!'
One of the perks of the [Empyrean Aurae] is…
[All enemies' defenses -50%]
Having gained another confidence, Hans retreated back and stabilized his body mid-air. He raised his head again and stared at the wyvern.
Roooooar—!
The monster howled a painful roar. Blood oozed out of the wound on its right wing where his sword cut earlier.
It seemed like even the wyvern hadn't expected that his sword could actually injure its wings.
Kyyyyyaahh—!
Its right wing barely even fluttered as it struggled to stabilize itself in the air.
Hans did not attack. His eyes stayed on the wound he dealt at the dragon's wing.
'My blade cut through it without resistance.'
It was out of his expectations.
'Is this the power of 1299 strength stat?'
The angry wyvern recklessly fired breaths after breaths at Hans' location. Due to its Innate regeneration, the wound on his right wing was closing in. To prevent Hans from seeing it, he tried to cover it with a barrage of attacks.
Only…
"I see what you did there." Hans smiled as his sight saw through the wyvern's condition from between each breath.
"Fine…"
Hans positioned his sword in a javelin throwing stance. Since this wyvern wasn't a threat, this would be a good time to practice some of his skills.
Hans slightly leaned backwards and gathered momentum.
Then, as the wyvern's breath came closer, Hans shot his swords forward.
Swish—
At that moment.
[Phantom Multi-Shot.]
Ching—, ching—
The swords multiplied into dozens of projectiles. At the same time, it scattered through the wyvern attacks and tore its flame breaths.
Whooosh—!
The swords projectiles passed through the flames without losing power and aggressively pierced both of the monster's wings.
Boooom—, booom—, boooom—!
Roooooar—!
The wyvern screamed in pain. It was so loud that Hans even covered his ears to prevent his eardrums from breaking.
Even then, the attack worked and the wyvern's huge body finally lost its balance in the air.
Considering the mana cost, the attack was worth it.
However, in the end, it's time to wrap this up.
Whooosh—
The wyvern is wounded fatally. It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that it won't have any capability to block any attacks from him.
Now that the monster is thrown into panic, Hans leaped toward, fetched his swords, and launched several slashes downwards.
Swish—
Slash—, slash—, slash—, slash—!
The wyvern received it all without resistance. Some cut through its flesh whereas few even penetrated the bone.
Roooooar—!
All it could do was roar as the monster slowly descended to the ground.
Swish—
Hans deactivated the [Emperor's Strides] and glided towards the wyvern's body. Hans landed on its broken scales, grabbed Arondight and Ironwood Blade, and started to cut the wyvern's massive body.
Rip—, rip—!
The thick scales cut into pieces slowly revealed the wyvern's fragile bare skin. Hans did not stop and continued lashing his blade like there was no tomorrow.
Slash—, slash—
The wyvern twitched in the air, trying to get rid of Hans. Then, it screamed in agony as Hans rapidly shredded his body. It attempted to swing its wings and fire even more breaths. Its tail even tried curling around Hans but the human is too fast for his attempts to work.
Kiyaaaahh—!
"Die already!"
Rippp—!
Whaaaam—
Hans reached the wyvern's head and pierced his swords deep into his eyes. Blood gushed out like a fountain. The wyvern issued a loud shrieking roar, even louder than before.
ROOOOOAR—!!!
At that moment.
Crash—!
Baaaaam—
The ground exploded as the wyvern's enormous figure crashed down. After stabilizing his balance, Hans pulled out the swords from the monster's eye and…
"Now!"
Slash—, swish—
Hans's swords emitted a golden line as they slashed the nape and beheaded the wyvern.
Slash—
"Kuuuah—-?"
Blood dripped from below.
Drip—, drip—
Hans stood up from his kneeling position. The wyvern's head slowly slid out of its neck.
"Rest in peace."
Crunch—
Thud—
The wyvern's lifeless and headless body flopped powerlessly on the ground.
With that, the battle came to an end.
[You have killed the wyvern, Rya.]
[Level Up!]
[Level Up!]
[Level Up!]
[Level Up!]
"!!!"
As Hans read through the contents, his cold eyes quickly went wide.
"This is… a named monster!?"
