Marielle walked down the staircase hesitantly.
“Who on earth did Grandma bring home today?” she asked herself. “I hope it’s not one of those long-winded ladies who want to tell their entire life story in one sitting,” she said to herself.
Marielle only looked up when she reached the last step of the staircase. There next to her grandmother stood a tall lady wearing a red jacket and matching hat. Marielle walked up to her slowly and extended her hand.
“This is Mrs. March,” Ethel announced to Marielle. “And this is my granddaughter Marielle,” she while she smiled from ear to ear.
“Pleased to meet you,” Marielle said in greeting.
“The same here,” Mrs. March said while her eyes studied Marielle from head to toe.
“You said that she was clever, but you didn’t say that she was also a beauty,” Mrs. March remarked with her eyes stretched wide.
Marielle did not take the time to wonder about that statement.
