“My father says that she’s a modern-day witch, but some folks say that she gets her powers from vampirism,” Clifford responded to Marielle’s question.
“So, that’s what makes her successful?” Marielle asked still in complete surprise.
“I suppose so,” Clifford responded.
“Who are these people? Do you talk to them personally?” Marielle asked.
“They’re young friends of my father’s,” Clifford replied without taking his eyes off the road.
“Anyway, it’s again not a safe topic for this time of the night,” Marielle said, looking back at the road in front of her.
“Yes, and I hope that you and your grandmother don’t go experimenting until the early hours of the morning again,” Clifford remarked, smirking at Marielle briefly.
“We didn’t actually perform an experiment. We only trained for one,” Marielle corrected with her chin raised cheekily.
“Oh, pardon me,” Clifford responded quickly. “My terminology was wrong, but you get the message, though,” he added in a matter-of-fact way.
